More jobs thanks POTUS

March 03--Dallas-based AT&T ( T ) has committed to bringing about 3,000 jobs back to the U.S. as part of a four-year deal with a union that covers thousands of workers in Texas and four other southwestern states.

The Communications Workers of America and AT&T ( T

) announced Thursday that they have reached a tentative agreement to increase pay and provide paid parental leave, health care and other benefits for more than 20,000 AT&T ( T ) workers in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. The deal will go to union members for a vote.

AT&T's ( T) promise to bring back some offshored jobs comes at a time when many U.S. companies have come under fire for seeking cheap labor overseas. In speeches and on Twitter, President Donald Trump has sharply criticized companies with similar practices, such as Carrier, Apple and Ford.

Marty Richter, an AT&T ( T) spokesman, said the company's promise to bring jobs back is "not a typical part of a labor agreement."

"It's an example of what can be achieved when the sides work together and we appreciate the work of the CWA's Southwest leadership team to make this possible," he said in email.

He said AT&T ( T) hasn't decided what kinds of jobs the 3,000 will be, but said they could span from call center jobs to technicians.

Contract negotiations came to an end about a month before the previous contract expired on April 8. Both sides had agreed to start the discussions early.

AT&T ( T) officials say they've reached 19 different labor agreements, including this agreement, in 2016 and 2017 that collectively cover more than 81,000 employees.
Good for Trump, he's giving concessions to big businesses and tax breaks to keep people at work. One tally put the cost per job that he's created so far at about 1 million dollars per job. But that's just an estimate. It could be higher.

Looking at jobs totals for each president:

jobs count: Obama: 11.8 million jobs created over 8 years or 1.5 million per year

jobs count: Trump: ?? maybe 50,000 so far. Trump has 10 more months and 1,450,000 more jobs to go.

Look, you trumpeted his measly few thousand jobs as if it were a great accomplishment. I'm merely pointing out that he's already doing worse than the previous administration.

Put another way, 1.5 million jobs in a year is 173,000 jobs in six weeks. Trump is behind by 123,000 jobs. And he's already taken 5 vacations. I'm willing to give him credit for an achievement. What you are trumpeting is actually pretty mediocre. You need to be a bit more critical if you want agreement. Also stick to facts.

True, people are going to bitch. We learn early in life that bitching gets us the things we want. Starting with mama's nipple. What's wrong with that?

Even Democrats who strongly oppose a lot of what Trump is doing have said they can work with him when it comes to things that they do want.

For instance, Democratic congressmen would dearly like to support an infrastructure bill that would create jobs and repair roads and bridges badly in need of maintenance. But all Trump is doing is cutting very expensive deals to save a meager number of jobs. That is, when he isn't off golfing.

Look at what Trump does, don't listen to what he says. He says he saved jobs. Maybe he did. But he's doing it a micro levels and spending too much on each job "saved". Where is Trump's plan to create 25 million jobs like he claimed he would when he asked for your vote?

I don't see anything wrong with bitching about his lack of a realistic plan.

Lol. Those days are so over.

Or on hold for a while at least.

The truth will eventually triumph. It always does.
Most people are on to GOP lies.

The truth is the only way to form public policy that actually delivers. It took six years of GOP lies for the public to vote the bush era GOP congress out of office. Maybe this time it won't take so long.
