Some of you may be familiar with the MMMA website. If you are thinking about checking it out - don't. If you frequent the site, stop.
I'm fairly sure the founder is one of the people under indictment for involvement with the "Clinical Relief" dispensary in Ferndale and the place is crawling with cops.
I am a 100% legal caregiver and I operate under the strict guidelines of the card system. I made the mistake of posting an ad for caregiver services and was inundated with requests for illegal sales, some involving a bit of weight. I have a bad feeling everyone who posts there, or possibly even visits, is on a watch list and possibly under surveillance.
To make matters worse, the most frequent posters are reckless fools who encourage everyone to take dangerous risks. Anyone calling for due care and caution is accused of being a cop and of using "scare tactics." See, their position is that the card system is BS and the law allows much broader activity including sales of any amount to anyone with a card regardless of whether or not they are your patient. If you are like me and do not want to take that risk, they flame you.
It almost seems like the website run by the people under indictment and they are using the site to set people up as part of a deal with the cops. Now, I don't know this to be true, but it sure seems that way. Either that, or they want to use other people as guinea pigs.
Either way, you would be smart to avoid that website at all costs.
The founder is Michael Kormon, one of the premier cannabis defense attorneys in the state. No one in any position of authority, including Mr. Kormon were involved with Clinical Relief. Neither he nor any other attorneys in his office represented them in court. No one directly involved with the management of the site was a defendant in the case. Nothing happens there that is not vetted by Kormon's office. A recent Weediquette program on Vice featured the intrusion of law enforcement that continues against patients and caregivers in Michigan, and Kormon appeared throughout the show to explain and demonstrate what is up with that. He also has an internet radio program called Planet Greentrees. There is a link on the home page. Tonight's guest is Harvard Professor Emeritus Lester Greenspoon who has been outspoken in his support for medical cannabis for years. Prior programs are archived and available.I am a frequent poster, and am, in fact, working to bring caregivers together in light of the new dispensary laws that small doubt intend to eliminate the current system. We can outcompete them. I stopped in here to mention that and invite people to look into it. That conversation is happening there.
We have had our eyes on the horizon and our noses in the wind, watching the law play out in the courts and the legislature. Discussion regarding protections for patients and caregivers is frequent, and we have more than just kicked around important legal matters, to include sec. 8 Affirmative Defense protections, I think especially in light of People v Hartwick and People v Tuttle, that lays out evidentiary matters in addition to sec. 4 registry protections. If you choose not to protect yourself with additional evidentiary coverage if law enforcement overlooks your registration with the State, and it does, landing you in court, knock yourself out. There are those who think it prudent. We intend to leverage every advantage the law provides. If anyone is not comfortable with any of our observations they are not required to buy in. I entirely agree that abiding by the strict guidelines of the card system is the best way to go.
That you were approached with requests that were outside the protections of the law came from people, the likes of which come out of the woodwork in most any internet forum. Your characterization of them as in any sense key players is misguided.
FWIW, speculation, hyperbole, insults, lies, and/or fallacy are errors in conversation that invalidate users' arguments. I work to stay away from them and am not bashful to call them out when they appear. Please refrain from them in any response to me, and I will return the courtesy. Thank you.
