So, yeah, they will be stopped with effort. All because people heard Trump say what they wanted rather than actually listen to him.

How many times have people posted on this forum that Trump was all for legal rec MJ. Or "there are too many people in support of legal rec for Trump[ and his cabinet to consider returning to aggressive enforcement against MJ". My favorite was one of Trump's spokesmen counciling America to "listen his heart, not what he says".
