trying to take some clones off my mama before flower, easiest/successful way to do so?
cut close to the main on the plant, cut again at an angle to expose that cambium layer(like stem cells in there)
close to a new chute,, use a scalpel for best results, dip in clonex, poke into a moist rapid rooter, mist and cover with
with clear dome/cup. mist if you see them droop. when you see roots transplant.
yep, I've even done it in a sponge, a cup of dirt too.Would a rock wool cube work?
thats ok maybe, depending on what type of soil, mist it with just water and clear dome it till it picks back upI tried a 4" pot with soil but it's looked like an upside down J after an hour
Easiest way is to take your cuttings put them in a glass of water and that's it. You need to change the water everyday though.trying to take some clones off my mama before flower, easiest/successful way to do so?
Never got around to building an aeroponic cloner because coco in little cups is working well. This one was 7 days under a dome and 7 days out, ready for a transplant.
Mother is going on 3 mo!! Been juicing her up to shoot during flower!Make sure the donor mom is at least 6 weeks old.
Good luck, BigSteve.
How successful is this method? And should I dip the cuttings in some hormex?Easiest way is to take your cuttings put them in a glass of water and that's it. You need to change the water everyday though.
Let me make sure I understand this right cause I'm going to be trying this method. You don't use any rooting solution? You just plant the cuttings straight into soil (is the soil wet?) mist the inside of some 2L bottles and place them over each individual plant. Leave them there for about 4days? When they start to wilt you take the bottles off mist the insides of them then place back on top each of the plants. Then when they are looking healthy you take the bottles off, during this time do you mist the leaves or the soil? Then if they start to wilt again you mist the inside of the bottles and place them back over the plants?I put them in soil under an individual dome (2L bottle) for 4 days, i.e. 4 x 24 hour periods. An extra day to 5 under the dome is better than a day less to 3, but 4 is the magic number.
No rooting hormones.
I replace the dome if they start to wilt, misting the dome but never the leaves directly. Take the dome off again when it's unwilted, replace if and when it wilts again.
However I only get a wilting clone after that first dome removal about 1 in 20 clones. I have brilliant success.
p.s. Expect more wilting than me if your background humidity goes under 70.
Ok I believe I fully understand. I will certainly be trying this method. When the time comes for me to cut some clones.I said 4 days under the dome was my secret to success, but maybe 'avoid and minimize water touching the leaves' is a winner too.
Hey KryptoBud, any advice / tips when using just water? I have had no luck getting a cut to root - unfortunately..Easiest way is to take your cuttings put them in a glass of water and that's it. You need to change the water everyday though.
