Those are really cool - I've never seen them either. I used to race slot's when I was a kid as well. We lived on Clark AFB in the Philippines & they had a large track that many of the younger AF dudes were into as well.
Those cars haul ass!

I had a 1/24 scale plastic kit rocket car powered by a CO2 cartridge. It was supposed to travel along a tight string but I just let it spin around on the asphalt street.
The commercial 1/24th slot car race tracks were totally cool for a kid back then.

For around 16 years - it was a diverse childhood that exposed me to many different environments and people.
