Sheesh guys. This isn't a patent. It's a TRADEMARK. Like Coke or Pepsi.

All they are claiming rights to is the name for marketing purposes. You might have a legitimate GG strain, but you won't be able to call it that, just like you can have a soda that tastes the same as Coke; you still can't call it Coke.

Prior use may be a defense. But common names have been trademarked before.

In any case, how many millions does Tony Green want to spend to defend his strain names? Because that is what it could take.

I am guessing it is part of a market strategy to sell hoodies, t-shirts backpacks at head shops. No one is going to pay these guys for the "rights" to grow or breed Gorilla Glue.

They aren't claiming the strain, just the name. If they held a patent on the strain, nobody else could sell it under any name.

Nope, still fucken dumb. Why rename a fucking strain at all? Thats some shady garbage. Thats how tons of people have mislabelled strains claiming to be something they arent.

Its a slippery slope theyve started on. Thats what happens when greed is more important then the plant

It goes both ways I guess. The breeders who put a lot of hard work and money into developing a strain / brand can see it stripped away by wannabes just using the name on any chuckers blend.

So while some joker with expensive lawyers can steal other peoples brands, those same brand owners can protect them.

Personally, if I'm gonna pay good money on a pack of gear, I want to know what it is, not what someone calls it.

Yeah good point actually. I hate when multiple seed companies have the same name for strains that are all different.

My buddy was trying to find a Pineapple Express strain he grew a few years back(he couldn't remember which seed company it was from). He ordered "Pineapple Express" seeds from 3 different seed companies. All 3 of them turned out to be different and none were the one he was actually looking for.

You can't believe the hype. People always put a fancy name on schwag. My buddy bought some GG clones that looks and smells like hemp. I have Pineapple Express and Blue Dream that is weak as hell. Maybe good for old ladies. Let the buyer beware.
