I teach middle schoolers. I give them little tidbits here and there. Share a few acceptable stories. My teenage sons know the real score. I encourage then to seek education and question every political motivation.

But you'll never catch me speakinv out against our military members. They don't choose to go, they are ordered.
Did you have fun raping and murdering women and children?

I had the great good fortune to live in Vietnam as a young child in 1971. I saw and smelled the aftermath of war firsthand. It's been 45 years and I've never forgotten who got us into that war and who got suckered into doing the dirty work for the profiteers.

This thread is an attempt to separate the heroes from the monsters and show them both for who they are... And the threats we as Americans all face if the monsters aren't exposed.

I volunteered at 18 and was turned down. This is my way of trying to save lives.
I pray it helps. At least you have good intentions. More folks should try. But hey, the internet needs it rightous keyboard warriors.

Geez, your all about kids of less means not having any options. I suppose since you've got it all figured out you'll be running for office and implementing a process so that every kid will have alternative options.
I applaud your willingness to spread the truth among the young who are targeted by our military propaganda to join up and become pawns in a larger game of profit and mayhem.

I'm doing the same in my own way, by raising awareness that what we're told by the establishment fails to square with what we're doing on the ground around the world.

Right now my worry is this latest shitshow in Syria. We don't need another war. My sons (well, one of them) would likely try and go. These cats in DC really need to pipe the fuck down.

Said the raping sociopath who can't spell righteous.
What about the billionaire shareholders of Lockheed Martin, the ones shoveling billions in campaign finance funding into politicians who say America is somehow under armed and defenseless, in spite of all evidence to the contrary?

Hating the guy who carries a rifle into that mess seems misguided, at best.

Vietnam veterans have fought for decades to clear their names for the atrocities carried out in our name there.

They're as victimized by what happened as the people they found themselves shooting at.

Pay attention this time, ok? NO ONE IS ASKING FOR YOR APPROVAL. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR VIEW IS YOU.

Unless you have something to say based in fact, not your feels, then find a mirror and talk to it.

He's badly misguided on this one, and I'm usually one of his biggest supporters.

A soldier's intentions are usually fair imo. But that doesn't mean they aren't being misled. They choose to enlist, and should understand the remifications of enlisting, including the very likely scenario of being sent to fight. Maybe we should wait to enlist people until the part of the brain that reasons developes. I know many youth idealize soldiers and wars, we all love an action hero, and in many high schools, including the one I attended about a decade ago, they are pushing kids towards enlisting from as young as 13.

What a shitty, selfish, shortsighted thing to say.

Do you have any idea what the marketing budget for the armed forces is? Do you suddenly want to defend our miserable excuse for a mass media establishment as being fair and balanced about their portrayals of our military actions around the world?

How about those kids, given a great education in our public schools, being able to see through all that and make the right decision?

Your position is badly wrong on this.

Blame those who profit from endless war, not those who are desperate to escape poverty, lack of economic opportunity and even violence.
