American soldier; WE are the terrorists

A soldier's intentions are usually fair imo. But that doesn't mean they aren't being misled. They choose to enlist, and should understand the remifications of enlisting, including the very likely scenario of being sent to fight. Maybe we should wait to enlist people until the part of the brain that reasons developes. I know many youth idealize soldiers and wars, we all love an action hero, and in many high schools includine mine they are pushing kids towards enlisting from as young as 13.
BWAHAHAHA!

Fuck, if we did that no one would sign up!

Which is why recruiters get to freely roam the halls of nearly every high school in our country. Get them quick, while they're young, idealistic, impressionable and easily fooled!

Or keep demonstrating your lack of knowledge in both the world, and your command
He's badly misguided on this one, and I'm usually one of his biggest supporters.
I don't suspect that person has experienced what you have in Vietnam, or I in other places. The world is a dangerous place whether we are at the source of if or not. I don't wish my experiences on anyone, but am not ahamed. I was a young kid that bought the sell. Thats mine and mine only. I'll will try to educate, and will always support our military, ive seen what can happen without them. Unfortunately, as you mentioned a few times, it's hella hard to compete with billionaires and their media. Keep your kids close, teach em well.

What a shitty, selfish, shortsighted thing to say.

Do you have any idea what the marketing budget for the armed forces is? Do you suddenly want to defend our miserable excuse for a mass media establishment as being fair and balanced about their portrayals of our military actions around the world?

How about those kids, given a great education in our public schools, being able to see through all that and make the right decision?

Your position is badly wrong on this.

Blame those who profit from endless war, not those who are desperate to escape poverty, lack of economic opportunity and even violence.
that's a much better way of putting it than the other guy did.

Anyone who truly believes that "they should know better" at 17yrs of age is deluded. Or maybe every crime should be tried as adults. Why stop there, alcohol and drivers license ar 16! Fuck it, they can go to med school at 12. Why not a 20yr old president. Gimme a fucking break.

I sent my child to get the very best education I could think of; she's in Africa, with my brother-in-law and sister, living and learning about the world on the up close and personal, getting a perspective of things from the vantage of the Diplomatic Corps.

She's doing very well and I could not be more proud of her.

What else would you have me do?

Serious question.
Man I think were doing what we can. I know sometimes my sons aren't getting it, but I press on. All we can do is keep trying, and involve ourselves in the conversation with the morons in DC. I can't quit, the military didn't teach me how lol.

I'll bet. Sounds like you may be raising someone with the moral compass to show us how it can be. Im sure her experience will guide her in life. Kudos to you man, for expanding her worldview.

I'm applying to get a slot on a local public access radio show, specifically to discuss issues like this one.

My plan is to moderate a conversation and find common ground, as our differences have for too long been manipulated to allow those who would profit by our misery to expand their influence.

these people want to hold all muslim people as guilty for the misdeeds of the worst sliver of them, but they hate it when that same standard applies to them, that tiny sliver that actually did the worst stuff that any americans have.

it's quite the thing to see.
Where did you see it? TV? Internet?

Regarding the troop movements into Syria; what do you think his intentions are? Since Russia supports Assad, how does that work? Does Jared have a plan?

You had a sky high ASVAB score, as did I. That put you in a position to understand. Your vantage at the sharp end of the bell curve does not translate into the expectation that everyone behind you should have known what you did.

Quite the opposite; our gifts of intelligence and analysis must be used in the service of helping those less gifted understand just how badly they're being fooled.

Look at me I was so smart! I didn't go, I really only know what the TV and the internet showed me, but I'm right! Also, people I think are dumb deserve to die!

Fuck man, you seem like you'd make a perfect politician. Do you use orange spray tan?

Ok, all BS aside, that's freakin cool. That is the right antidote. More local, grassroots discussions out in the public sphere. They may not fall for whatever the MSM is hawking, but there's a good chance they'll listen when it's close to home. Fuckin A.
