Dry sift screen materials?

I work with stainless steel mesh, we have mesh sizes from 1 inch wire all the way down to 8 micron. Needless to say, I have whatever size I need.. I know the proper sizes and all for microns but I've only ever heared of people using silk screen.. is there a reason? Less coarse..? Does metal affect the weed or the resin? Or is silk screen just cheaper so that's why it is what's used by the masses?

There is also another fabric micron made from polyester called organza.. just learned about it 5 mins ago so that's all I can say about that.

I'm hoping that I'm good to go with the steel because I make strainers with perforated sheet metal and steel mesh and I can make the best pollinator ever!

Silk screen has more resilience than stainless mesh. I use 150 mesh stainless for the first cut for wear and silk screen to refine at 110 and 70 micron.

So you're telling me that polyester ( silk screen is made from polyester ) is stronger than steel? How so? If you used the word resilient as in it has flexibility to it and it will bounce back I would think that's a bad thing.. if it stretches that makes the holes bigger, needless to say that would not be good...

Also you said you use 150 lpi mesh to start and 110 micron next? So you know 110 micron is in the area of 135 lpi mesh.. the hole difference between 150-135 mesh isn't enough to put them side by side and actually do anything different that the previous one... you might want to go to 110 lpi instead of 110 micron so there's a bit of a gap between the size of holes you're using.. or keep the 110 micron and move your 150 lpi mesh for start a bit bigger for your first startup mesh maybe go to 100 lpi mesh to start then 110 micron (135lpi mesh) and then finally your finer meshes for however super pure you want the sift..

Resilience has nothing to do with strength, and everything to do with bounce.

It doesn't have to stretch far enough to negate the process, and the sizes I gave you are based on tensioning so that there is bounce/rebound when you tap the screen. The stainless works OK for carding or for bouncing against your palm, but not much using a finger tapping technique.

I'm going to be getting my first grow tent soon after my wedding in july ( promised i would wait lol too busy anyways ) I've been doing lots and lots of research for different things about growing and processing and I really like ( pressed (( pliable)) hash ) hash so I'm going to buy one of those jack puck hash presses that you can heat up ( so i can make pliable hash not rock hard blonde pucks ) and make some hash out of my trim and probably some bud just to make more hash lol figure it's good to know as much as I can before I start up.

May I ask, what size of stainless steel wire mesh you would recoment for dry flower prior making pre-rolls, on comercial scale. Basicaly, what I am trying to figure out is just to find the right size of microns to shake the broken flower throught to get rid of stems etc. I am not talking about microns for collecting kief or trichomes. Just good quality dry cannabis in "oregano" visual appearance. Thank you so much in advance.

This is just for getting good shake material for making pre-rolls, no mesh for collecting kief, live resin, etc.
We use a shredder for breaking down the buds prior this step.

Maybe I am wrong about the numbers I mentioned above (those are more for kief collecting from dry flower I giess. I need to find the right wire screen size for good quality flower shake to produce pre-rolls.

10 mesh means there are 10 wires per inch and the average opening is about 2000 microns. About like your average pasta strainer.

I typically use 150 or 130 micron for first sieve for trichomes, and refine with a 110 and a 70 micron.
