How many people understand the US Constitution?

I see many comments on our government, both good and bad. Yet it seems that very few Americans have any real knowledge about the Founding Document, the Constitution.

I was reading one thread about problem with our government. I was, as I usually am, appalled by the misconception of how our government, according to the Constitution, is supposed to work.

First, let me state that there are 4, not 3, branches of the government. They are mentioned in order of power/authority. The first is THE PEOPLE, which is mentioned in the preamble. Next is Congress, then the Executive, and finally the judiciary. The people have the ULTIMATE authority by the power of the vote, or eventually by Revolution.

Please read the Constitution. Reading this is the only way to understand why it isn't working, and what and how it should work if the Constitution is followed.

Many people don't seem to know, or care, that the government is Waaaaaaay out of control.

Article VI, section 2 tells us that ANY laws which violate the Constitution, are not laws at all, just so much gobbledygook that Congress has passed without regard to the Constitution.

Stop with the generalizations. How is our government out of control constitutionally? Pick one example and be specific.

Are we free to grow marijuana or smoke it according to federal law? No. is this unconstitutional? Yes. See the 9th amendment.

There are so many things that it would take me hours to type them all. But I have given you a prime example that clearly concerns everyone on this forum who are Americans.

The entire document is fucking garbage.
How do you figure that. At one time we were the greatest Nation on Earth. The Constitution is largely responsible for that.

So explain, please, why you can't sue the government on that basis of this unconstitutional idea of yours.
according to the Constitution, under the first amendment, you can. It's called a "redress of grievances". The problem is that the federal government has gotten so far away from the Constitution.
Constitutionally speaking, a black person is actually 3/5 of a person.
Yeah, it could use some serious upgrades
Apparently you haven't read the amendments 11-27. If you had, you would realize that many things that you say need to be changed, have been changed. Not enough maybe, but many have.

The constitution was written by racist slave owners, pedophiles and idiots who settled their disputes with dueling pistols.

By today's standards, they'd be in fucking prison. I don't worship a bunch of unenlightened, rich white guys from the 18th century.

I have a much higher regard for people from the 20th century who dedicated their lives to correcting the failures of the constitution.

But other than that, it's a cool old historic document that would bring a lot at auction.

Which Article is that?
The Three-Fifths Clause of the United States Constitution (1787)
it says add up all the free persons including those bound to Service for a Term of Years (indentured servants), then take 3/5 of all others. All others include anyone not considered a legal person, which meant slaves. Slaves were black people.
