molasses is bad very bad bad bad bad. I tryed it and today when I check on the gurls it was a horrible sight.

I used organic unsulferd black strap molasses 2 tsp per/gal with a hydro set up and there was crud and crap all in my shit

it was about to kill my babies. I just spent 2 hours flushing and rinsing the resuvuar and roots!!!! and I had a drain and water hose!!!! and it took a good 2hours just getting the crud out man I didnt see many threads about molasses being used in hydro and guess what??

dont ever do it:blsmoke:

shit i wouldnt even do it in soil but hey im pretty tramatized:roll:

did your plants survive? we they stalled at all?

i looked around the threads and people were all like hmmm im try it in my areo system but maybe it will clog it

shit but your right I should have known better. I even looked around but didnt really see anyone mention not to do it in hydro so I went ahead.

should have never done it.

not only that but today I had to take my 5' plants off the table they ar on cuz I am out of room!!!! well as I lowered them down they all fell over because I forgot to disconnect a tie on one of largest plants and it linched the whole plant out of the resuvuar!!!!!

i Nearly shit my pants!!!! spilled water everywhere lol (guess I should not have drank lol) thank god all looks ok now. man these things are way more than tripling in size!!

wish me luck.

next time im flowering at 8"

I posted a thread about the results in my aero system and I wanted to puke lol.The plants liked it for about a day then it was like my res was a giant frothy rootbeer with thick gooey foam that clogged every mister and gooked every hose. It took me 2 days to get it all flushed out I ended up loosing 3 plants from the disaster.I I usually am a sweet and carbo load but now only use Sweet in my aero system. It slowed me down a week of time.My res was a 50 gallon res I had to flush and completely change it 7 times in 2 days to get it all going correctly again but lost the 3 plants and stressed the others to all hell. Its a good additive but gonna say soil only. We now know hydro and aero are no nos lol

mine where fine, but i caught mine about 6 hours after i put it in there. they didnt set like that very long at all. i was useing a bubbler when it happened to me and when i added the carboload it did the same thing but i was looking for it to happen so i just used it on 1 plant. it took about 30 mins before i could see it start to happen again. i flushed it out really good then added 1/8 the carboload it calls for on the packageing. that worked good but you have to add it every few days like that.
to be honest with you i dont think it did any good at all.

Yeah Im stickin to sweet maybe Sugar daddy additive from here on out as I was so disguisted in the outcome. I can only blame myself as I asked and no one really knew what would happen in an aero setup but I didnt count on it frothing up fo much like it did. It was like that spray in can foam lol.Only took about 48 hours to completely shut down my 28 site setup.I had to pull the pump filter bags out and rinse them for few hours and had to hand water each pot while trying to get the misters restarted as I cant take my plants out at this point as the roots are like 8 feet so it sounds like all misters are going but 2 weeks to go so we will find out upon take down and clean up what is for sure going on in there..Sweet wild berry thats the stuff it has the carbs and sugars all mixed and filtered and give a berry aroma to buds and the room.20 bucks a bottle

i hope mine will cope with it. sucks I had to rough them up and linch one of them on the same day they were being sufforcated by the deadly molassess blob.

I'm going to create a testing setup, I think I have an idea of what to add to make it compatible with a hydro setup... not molasses but it would help with the Sweet and Carbo-Load. Simethicone (gas-x, yeh I know  ) to decrease the surface tension and prevent foaming. Also hygrozime at maximum dosage, should prevent bacterial buildup and break down the clumps before they form but it has been known to react with some organics. I will see what I come up with.

I've been using molasses in my grow and the results have been great. I grow in soil, btw. To blame VM for this is just plain silly. The molasses additive has been around for a couple years. I visited several other sites where they also recommend adding it. They have a very positive impact on the size of your buds.

hey guys, videoman was totally soil, so he never tried it in a hydro sys for sure. and from the soil side it makes a bit sense since so of the more expensive organic nute brands have molasses in the mix and cause no trouble. that is where videos idea originated from in the first place. with rockwool heavy molasses can cause trouble surely.

well good luck guys with clearing out the sys and next time use only mono- or disaccharides if you try this stunt, that won't blog the rockwool as much as molasses;)

wop, it is a soil thing and never thought really for hydro since molasses contains way to much medium lengst polysaccharides.
if you want to try this in hydro all you can use are mono- or disaccharides or the system is fucked.

Blaming your mistake at video is kind of dull, especially since he isn't around anymore, he didn't pour it in your tanks or did he?

yea he was over my house and helped me do it. we live near each other so we hang out.

j/k

but yea I never said it was his fault. I had a feeling that it wasnt meant for hydro but did it anyway.

but its been 12hours of light since I cleaned out the molassas blob and these gurls didnt even miss a beat!!! that son of a bitch, (my largest plant) grew more inches in just this last light cycle!!!! the bastard will not stop growing!!!!!! and hes the one I lynched last night!!!!

it must be the strain. Be careful not to flower too late when growing Big Bud
strain and they were not kidding when they gave it that name.

my light is touching the cieling my plants are exactly 1 foot off the ground. because of the res.

I have about I would say 5 - 10 inches of grow space left before my plants touch the bulb.

I have just compleated week 4 of flower. should I expect a lot more growth upwords in my last 4 weeks of flower??

i know that kind of trouble with BB man, you have to top it weekly in flower and start LST or just plain tying right away or it will grow over your head in no time.

did you tie it down so far? if not do it quick, right after watering if you are not in a constant cycle;)

also this buds can get damn heavy sometimes, so that you have to support them as well later on, i used bamboo sticks for the job.
