Trichome and bud status

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Hello all,

I have a 2 part question but I'll start with a brief rundown.

1 white widow (nirvana) in 5 gal dwc bucket in a 2'x2'x5.5' tent under 4 cxb3590's running around 50w/piece 3500k.

Depending how you look at it i'm either in mid week 7 with 1 week transition or mid week 8 no transition.

I'm including pics of buds and trichomes.

I know this plant is huge for this tent but what can I say... Is there anything I can do about harvesting just the top cola's of the buds that I believe will be ready this weekend or early next week?

Everything I read says to just chop and sacrifice the buds not getting enough light. I'd really like to try and get something out of these if possible without chopping entire branches. Thoughts?

Also, do my trichome pics put me about a week from harvest?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

sure, you can partial harvest the plants, take buds you want and leave the ones you want to go longer.
chop and sacrifice? thats cruel. lollipop below your light penetration, bend, twist, train during veg and flower.
I dont save the popcorn if any is present, legal limits, cola envy, etc.

2-3 weeks from the looks of it
So with some amber trichomes in the pics you still think it will go another 2 or 3 weeks? I was under the impression that once I see about a third amber it's time to chop.

So it would be ok just to cut the colas off clean to open it up a bit. Do I need to worry about this stressing the plant?

Thanks again for the advice as always!!

look at pics 5 and 7. those are clear as glass. when most of those get milky, you are about a week out or slightly less .

and yes you can selectively harvest as they ripen. they are getting ready to be chopped, stress doesnt' matter at that point.

Thanks for the heads up guys. The trichome pics are all different colas and I see the clear ones. I guess the few amber ones threw me off.

I'll check again this weekend at some point.

Much appreciated!!

I dont use microscope pictures. I tell by how the buds look. Recessed pistils. Swollen calyxes. Pistil colors. I had a microscope when I first started, but,it broke and its not needed unless youre new or growing for dispensaries.

Close,enough is good for me.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg OK it's been a week what do you guys think? The amber is freaking me out a bit. Is it possible the proximity of the tops to the lights are prematurely causing so many trichomes to turn amber?

I've included some pics. As always any insight is appreciated. Thanks

I'd cut it down right now dry it and then tweak your future harvest windows accordingly.

So you think she's ready?

Do you mind if I ask why? Is it the trichome pics or the bud pics that suggest harvest?

Sorry, but what are you referring to when you advise to tweak the harvest window accordingly in the future.

I dont know the strain, cant see the plant, didnt get to know her or watch her grow, and I dont know if she slowed down yet, not sure if ready. but you think it is, so cut it. if it leaves your head racy and you dont like that, let it dry for some more weeks might get better for you then tweak your harvest-harvest later for less of the heady effect and more body effect-for example.

I suggest you dont ever harvest before the breeder says she's ready, typically weeks after is the sweet spot for many. This is a personal preference, we all -tweak our harvest window- from could smoke now to better if I wait to waited a little too long.

snip a bud and dry it try it decide it

Thanks for the explanation guy, that makes sense. I actually did clip a top 4 days ago to do just that.

The last time I harvested a plant was in the 80's and that was before all this info was available. I remember the big bust title back then was operation "sea of green" lol definitely a different meaning today.

I flipped mar 18 and the breeders say 8-10 weeks so I guess I'm right there so to speak.

Thanks for the heads up.

So I clipped many tops to open things up a bit. After drying, that amounted to 4.5 and there is probably around that much left to harvest. I'm going to chop completely tonight and hang em up to dry.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me out with guidance and suggestions.

Couldn't have been so successful without your help and the vast amount of info on RIU.

Pat on the back to all!!
