Well I got a 60W Incandescent lying around, I could add that too.
no incandescent, they are too hot and the spectrum is useless and the light is ineffcient. if you dont have money to buy proper lights you dont have the money to grow buds. save up and do it right, if you rush in to it you will be let down

Or just go and get a stronger Fluorescent.
bingo! a compact (CFL) one though, none of those long tube flouros

When you say aint gonna get shit off... how bad are we talking here... and is that just cuz of the light?...
we are talking about spindly gross ass nugs, nothing worth smoking. you wouldnt pay money for nugs grown under that much light, and thats for damn sure.
you are going to have to feed it to get good buds too

I may have buried slightly past 1/2 an inch to compensate for the long root...SHIT! I guess that's what is causing this whole mess. Will it still break the surface but just take a bit more time?

Here are some pictures of the two seeds if you are interested:

by 1/4 inch i meant how long the "tail" should be. you only want to poke a small hole with a pen or something for the tail to go in leaving the seed on the surface. then gently sprinkle some soil over it. not much but enough to keep the seed moist.

Hmm... How much light should I be giving my plant .. and when should i change the hours?
i good figure is 100 watts per plant.. thats loose depending on the lumen strength and type of spectrum... buts its a good round figure.

change the hours when you want it to flower. simple

I'd only do 18 / 6 it's the natural light cycle plus I've heard it doesn't do much to the plants... and it'll save ya a little dough in hydro

for all of you out there that are planting in beer cups make sure you poke about a dozen wholes in the bottom so water can escape... if you don't you'll end up with a moldy sprout. ;)

like i said, its open to debate. I have my own reasons to go with 24 and others have thier reasons to go with 18/6,, and saving some dough in the short term could be one of them.. whether or not that extra 6 hours produces as much as it costs in elec is debatable like i said

people prefer 18/6 because marijuana has NEVER EVER had 24 hours of sunlight in the wild, and thats where it started!!1 simple facts, and the fact that the darkness actually helps it grow more, could be another reason along with electric./....

Thanks for that... But I was asking how many lumens it requires to stay alive, not number of hours... I mean like, how many watts of bulb... in terms of lumens would be enough... to JUST keep it alive and growing...

to get a decent yield and decent buds you need at the bare minumum 50 watts per plant. even then you will end up with small stringy buds. aim for 100 watts per plant. CFL, MH, HPS, doesnt matter... as an easy figure aim for 100watts
