Pistils turning brown too early on one branch?

So would you guys recommend putting neem oil on the branch to see if that works? Im really starting to think its russet mites, cant figure anything else out that it might be, i just dont want the rest of my plant to start doing the same thing.
I haven't tried neem oil yet, I don't really like the smell and texture of it.
Don't really like neem anything really, but neem meal is some great shit for your soil, but I friggin HATE the funky beef boullion smell

@ADP710 I was looking the video on YT but I can't find it...but literally take the DM and cover ever fan leaf that looks like that...NOT ON YOUR BUDS...I would do a top dressing on the soil aswell

@ADP710 then I'd look into more ways...always go on a 2 or 3 stage attack with and shitty mites....just be careful around your other branches/buds

@ADP710 that's why I said Azamax it's derived from neem. That with some spinosad will fix your problem. please give it a shot it will help you. I use to work for a Dispensary as the Master Grower lol Master Grower yeah right bullshit title instead of just being a god grower. I had to take care of multiple rooms and fucking mites would come around when the owner brought in new strains that had bugs. But when he stopped the bugs stopped. I know your growing outdoors so have I and it will work if you just follow what I said in my past post. I've got 41 days left to harvest and that's including the 10 day flush. Just finishing up week 4 on Friday.

@REALSTYLES The more and more i read up on the little bitches the more im sure its russet mites. I would really like to stay organic as i have from the start, is there anything organic to get rid of them? Im really contemplating just chopping the branch off just as a precaution because i dont want to lose her
@wiethe20 would diatomaceous earth for pool filters work? jw

I'm not sure on the DM for the pool...but the bag I bought was from Walmart ...it's yellow and white around $5 ....I'm trying so hard to find this video for you, can't find to save my life...it was legit (as some may seem watching by a video it would be hard to tell) it was a time elapse (a little story beginning and end) and they had a newspaper with the new date every week ...

All he did was put DM in a baby powder bottle ( the top that "puffs") and puffed it right on the fan leaves , right in the middle where it meets and canoeing ?...it stopped the spreading...honestly I don't know if the branched saved, but he did make it to a very nice harvest........- anyone cane take that as they want, I so wish I could find the video but I cannot so don't believe it could careless...imo it workedbongsmilie

@ADP710 lol what I suggested is organic. I will not say anymore and just watch. I wish you the best of luck. I'll stop talking and just watch.

@ADP710 that is also a very good suggestion, but so is mine ... just remember it wasn't genetics like he thought...and do both....actually all you can!

Old thread but let me put my 2 cents in for those experiencing this devastating russet mites. Years ago I had it and had no clue what caused it. I lost many crops to the russet. Hydro store told my sister they're mini mites.. So for along time we called it mini mites but still didn't know how to combat them. Fast forward 2-3 years.. Today I have them again. Dunno how but i got them but These mini mites better known as russets is no joking matter. You can't see them w/o a 40-60x magnifying glass. 2 weeks ago I had half a harvest which had no pisitis. Following batch, were clones from the same plants and some given to me from friends (who didn't have russet), sadly it has spread to the point that all my plants have no pistils now- even the ones my friends gave me too.
When you see cupping or canoeing on the sides of leaves and if it's not from heat, that's one of the first sure signs of russets. Then as infestation gets worse, Rams horn at the tips.. Even burnt slight burnt tips causing you to think it's over fert. Then discoloring into a unhealthy dark greenish yellow.. the new growth really mimics a zinc deficiency. In preflower around 2nd week when you're suppose to see healthy white pistils, instead the pistils will appear burnt at the tips, then they eat up the pistils leaving a dull ugly looking bud growth for the next few weeks.. Around Week 4 or closer to week 5, the pistils sometimes begins to recover (but not always esp in weaker and smaller plants), but sadly the damages been way done. You will end up with small lower quality buds. This batch I'm about to cut is 5 1000w lights.. I'd be super happy if I even get 3 pieces.
My grow room now has regular 2 and 4 spot mites and russets too! I can keep regular mites at bay but it's the russets that I'm afraid of. It's an all out war at this point. FML

I've never had success with DM in controlling any pest, to be honest.
For controlling russets you want to use something that kills all stages of them, that's why I like the lavender and citrus sprays, but if they are even moderately into flowering it'll work poorly because the mites are so tiny.
That's why dips work the best.
Russets are easily killed with sprays, and they don't reproduce nearly as fast as spider mites.
BUT you have to spray them at longer intervals, at least ten days, where spider mites you can control in about 6-8 days.
flowering ladies with mites I doubt you'll actually eliminate them, more likely you'll just slow them down hopefully to the degree where they don't totally screw your flowers.
ANYTHING that turns brown or tan on my plants and I am all over them.
In my experience nothing makes the plant do that except mites. Heat damage doesn't turn the same color, that's more of a lighter green and it will yellow eventually.
russets are a tan or brown color on the growing tips or calyxes.
And you won't see them at all, nor will they "smear" like two-spots do (meaning when you rub the leaves you won't feel the mites "smear" between your fingers)
clean leaf, any lavender based spray (for mites that is), fermented comfrey/dandelion, compost teas will help knock them back.
If it's bad and in the vege time, and you don't mind using miitcides, avid works also. I don't recommend that though.
Which Citrus spays? Lemon and orange? Thanks bro?

I have gotten spiders under control with Forbid but got hit with Russets. This is indoors. It seems like everything is good in flower but when I get to week 3 or 4 this time then Russets turned up.

Lavernder or Rosemary once a week? I heard Cedarwood and Clove is good./ I also heard Cinnamon can be devastating to all mites. Thanks MonkeyMan.

Did you find anything that helped? What was your expected harvest and eventual stinted harvest? Thanks.

well only thing that late into flowering that'd work would be predator mites, but I haven't used those for russets before so I can't attest to their effectiveness... I do know they absolutely destroy regular mites though..
but if they are already flowering there isn't much that can help there, without frying the pistils and/or inducing mold, I only have had russets twice, but both times were relatively easy to control, although one thing worth mentioning is that the afflicted plants don't rebound nearly as fast as a normal spider mite infestation.
another thing worth considering is people have had fairly good success in combatting broad mites with heat treatments
haven't done so myself though.
mabe I was lucky but for me, the russets/broad mites were a cakewalk..
now the regular two-spots on the other hand...

So warm the room up to like 120 deg F for an hour? Thanks.

well, I haven't done it before, but here is a good site in regards to all the lil secrets on them.
I don't have a ton of experience with them,, for me it was relatively easy.
now regular spider mites I can tell you allllllll about those fuckers...
me and those bastards go waaay back

Thanks for the link. Ha ha. Always like your posts. If I am ever in Santa Cruz again, I will have to buy you a beer. Drove through there before once going to Carmel Valley.

Steamers Lane for HUGE waves and Arnold's buddy Dave Draper had his gym in Santa Cruz. I think he retired..
