I've had good luck with FFOF, but my last few bags had a lot of gravel. Not cool...Just about all real organic built soils fall in that range.
Keep in mind that the plant will have effect on the final pH "set" of the soil. The plant sort of "tells" the soil what it wants to be and the soil answers by doing it. It's the soil-food-web at work.
I'm not a fan of FF soils - They have to many pests in them....
Potters Gold and Dr. Earth's Potting soil (the black, gray and white labeled one) are my favorite choices....When short cutting and buying a base soil.
I either make my own from scratch or I'll buy the cheapest potting soil I can find, then amend it with organic goodness.I'VE always had good luck in making my own soils, instead of buying them. Most soils I've personally come across, have alot of crap in them. So I make my own, and re-use when the grow is done. Thats just me though
Thanks, yeah I like playing with my soils, the wife usually pick up crappy stuff. I'll use in my potted garden first time around. Tried a batch I made, cucumbers didn't like it. Got another batch I'm working on, added blood.meal, bone meal and worm.castings, letting it set through the summer, then I'll add a little more right before I start my grow. Got tomatoes in a.small batch of.that seemed to work now. Time will tell. Going to the coast coming up, thought about bleaching and.crushing some.shell. Recipe in the works I guess, but it sure is fun...lolI either make my own from scratch or I'll buy the cheapest potting soil I can find, then amend it with organic goodness.
I loves me some crab, fish bone, neem, kelp, and langbeinite.
(Try it; you'll like it.)
Organic nutes are easy to use. If your soil needs a boost, nutrient tea is the bomb! Thanks, yeah I like playing with my soils, the wife usually pick up crappy stuff. Gonna have to try that combo you gave, see how it works.
