That single lamp won't cover a huge area. Place it next to your plants a little ways down from the top. Arrange your plants in a circle around it.

I love Hydro-Gardens and have used their products for like 2 decades but to adjust the 4-18-38 Tomato formula to 4-20-40 and refer to it in advertising as simply "4-20" is just cheesy :roll:

Hey, they're trying! It's not exactly a market they have a lot of experience with.

And in spite of the cheese, it's a good nutrient. It's got the whole enchilada...
 
Im having to leave town for a week in november and have never done hydro.

Would it be doable to leave a hydro setup with your nutrients and my mother plants for a week while i go on vacation without the ph going too far off and killing my plants?

Could you give me a better desciption of your setup, pumps, res size, the basics of what makes it work? or could you point me somewhere with a nice condensed explanation?

Id really appreciate any info you can give me

There a few ways to do a setup that can be left for a week. I've seen people leave RDWC systems for over a week without hassle or a top fed DTW system with a large reservoir. Whatever way you decide to go test it out for the three days before you go to make sure all the timers are running right and your reservoirs are large enough for the time frame you are away

Yeah im prepping months in advance cause i figured it would need some tuning in. My biggest problem i see is i commonly use phd softened well water for my soil plants that i leave in a bucket with a pump recirculating in the dark for a day before i use it. I adjust the ph of the water to 6.5 before recirculating and in one day it can go up to 7.2 or higher. Anyone know why this might be? Should i start using ro or distilled?

i do auto feed hempy buckets. i've been away 14 days no problem. took a bit to find a nute recipe that stays stable for that long.

i like RO water even though it is a pain to buy at walmart but it eliminates water as a possible source of problems. i would guess your water softener is causing the pH swings.

That could honestly explain years of problems ive been having in my soil in flower. I always ph and at the beginning never have any problems but after about a month into flower my plants usually start showing all sorts of problems that i can never reverse. Guess it could be my waters effect on the ph of my soil over time?

Ive got a still i can use. i suppose that would just be better. time to invest in some cal mag.

can you use the well water before it goes into the softener? is there a valve/spigot pre softener?

The thing is that there are so many different hydro serious that I'd need more specifics before I could provide any useful advice

Well im not trying to get too serious. I was hoping to be able to go with the most basic thing possible to start. I have 4 strains i want to keep alive while on vacation for a week. i wanted to go with a basic dwc setup with air stones air pumps and four 5 gallon buckets. not sure about top feed

Simple is hempy buckets. Or coco dtw...

What nutes you use for long term stabilty for your auto feed hempy? And care to elaborate on your autofeed? Thanks!

I am experimenting with a similar style, all around.

It's always a gamble leaving your garden for any amount of time when running hydro, so many things can go wrong so quickly...your best bet is to find a good friend or family member who can take care of things for you.

sure thing. setup is just a 30 gal trash can. pump has a 6 site manifold on it with a line to each hempy. also have a small water pump in the res which acts as a waterfall and keeps the nutes well mixed

i've had good luck with 3 nutes: DG foliage pro (although it's not the best for bloom), GH flora duo and now I'm on GH floranova bloom. i use DG pro tekt (Si) and HTH pool shock and RO water. before i leave, i try to set the pH at 5.5 and then it slowly rises. at most, it's been 6.2 after 14 days gone.

you have to play around and figure out how much water you need in the res for how long you are gone. i'm about 10 gals a week.
