any suggestions on when to top plants? Would you top an indica and sativa at different times? how many branches can you top?

No you would get 8 colas above the 4th (uncle ben) , to get 4 colas top above the second bro.
I got my info from Uncle Ben. Last year I topped over 100 plants above the 4th node and got 4 main colas on all them. Experience bro. :)

You get 2 sprouts per node so above the 2nd node is correct and according to Uncle Ben's method. I have topped from the 6th node myself and still get 4 colas after removing the lower portions for clones while leaving the 4 sprouts on. It is a matter of preference really. I like to go up a little higher to give me room to water the plants.

Holy fuck, I must have smoked WAY too much in the last year (yeah, it was/is some good shit!). I totally forgot that it was the second node. My bad. :dunce:

Ahhhh, I have it now! I had topping above the 4th node because that's what I'm going to do this time with my moms!! It's all coming back to me now - in a foggy haze of sweet smoke.

Is there a forum on topping or can someone show me a picture of where to snip? I've done this on my first grow which was like 4 years ago, but now I"m dealing with much more babies and would like to not cut them incorrectly. Thanks for all the feed back, I will be topping above the 3rd node after the 5th node is showing (sound good buds?)

Since the original Uncle Ben thread is closed can someone give me some advice on my current situation.

Plants had 5 true nodes
I accidentally topped at the third node instead of the second.

Uncle ben says this will make for a super bushy plant which I'm not entirely against, these are outdoors in SoCal, but my question is; Should I just go ahead and top again at the correct node or will this stress out the plant too much by topping again so soon? New growth has already begun at all nodes.
