UK420 Instantly told me not to feel concerned in any way for being a member if RIU, as I knew they would, because the mods are decent folks Lukio. Nobody was angry, nobody was even bothered if I'm honest.

And as for screenshots, you really must be fucking joking Lukio... You got another member removed that day (be it by their choice or not) for sending screenshots from that conversation to you here at RIU. even though I begged them not to do it, but you just had to drag them down with you. Luckily I got to the others before you could get them thrown of as well. And now we all still use both sites at our leisure, and that's what really itches your arse isn't it.

You crossed a line that likely both sites would see as stupid and unwarranted regardless of your LED superiority.

Can someone recommend what threads to read to get LED information without all the high school drama? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this when I need entertainment, but when I want to learn, I don't want to wade through 13 pages of damn insults!

There are pros and cons to each - without a definitive answer (cost, heat, efficiency, form factor etc). You generally get what you pay for and some leds are easy enough to DIY, so the cost/performance works out pretty well. I think the big contestors be between quantum boards and CMH. I'm using cobs atm and have ordered some led panels to replace them as they suit my needs better.

Unfortunately some folks just cant resist the chance of a shit storm, and I wont let myself be called names or turn a blind eye to any attempts on my good nature and honesty. And until I was called out I was genuinely trying to add something to the thread.

For me personally LED's have a light spread that cannot be beat. You can spread the points equally across your canopy, where HID has one single point, depending on how many HID you have.

It is the one single aspect of my choice to go with a CMH and DE HPS mix that I regret. The fact that I could have filled my canopy with equal measures of light rather than have 4 points the cola's will want to grow too.

And I love the COB's for this. With a SCROG like mine it is a dream come true to have your light spread out in such a way. QB's for the same effect, but COB's more so I think because the spread is even more pliable.

They have got quite a bit cheaper since I was looking into a COB build too. I think I priced my original build at £3000 or more. Could do it for under £2000 now with the same quality components.

Hi all, Ive been on the fence for a year now on what to buy to replace my 1k hps and can't seem to come to a final decision. I don't want to spend a ton of money and want to be able to match my typical 1k hps harvest of 1 pound. I'm considering the 400 watt vero v29 square config kit for about 800 all in shipped but it's a bit pricy for me. Also considering 4 autocobs for like 635 but it's only 220 watts. I'm interested in a citizen set up too possibly. I have to throw in the ring that u can get two mars 600 units for 560 watt draw at 460 bucks. Is it really worth paying 2-3 bucks a wattt vs 0.85 with the mars? Either way I'd save a ton compared to the 1k hps with cooling.

Yes there are some really helpful folks here. I have limited LED knowledge so not sure I can be the best help if you have already watched all Growmau5 vids.. Might be best to contact Growmau5 directly or just get the info you can from his vids and build away.

I learnt much from his vids myself.

Right now all of my plants are outdoors. Can't beat free sunlight!

In case anyone made it this far, yes LED lighting is well worth it, because;
1. Better efficiency/less heat
2. Better spectrum
3. Better quality results

A well built LED fixture could last decades, because there's no need to change out parts like lamps. Between this and their efficiency, the lights pay for themselves over time vs HID- usually within the first year of use..

Many good manufacturers here on RIU vend top quality fixtures and many more sell kits to make same. Some names;
Horticulture Lighting Group
Cobkits
Johnson Grow Lights
Timber
Northern Grow Lights
Tasty LED

and more (sorry if I missed you!).

The era of HID lighting (that's HPS, DE, CMH, CDM, etc) is drawing to a close. High quality COB and Quantum Board lighting is now less expensive than ever and produces better than first and second generation 'blurple' lighting.

Thanks for making it this far, hope @sunni or another mod would be willing to clean up the mess in this thread to restore is usefulness to the community.
