Seriously, GOP has been trying to get rid of NPR for decades because it hasn't been quoting Rush Limbaugh and Hannity as real news sources. Now, the bernietards are sharpening their knives over a perception they have that corporations aren't getting hit enough by NPR reporting. You know, the the kind of reporting done on u-tube, like "The Young Turks". What tty is saying is he wants NPR to be more like bernitard u-tube. Radicals left and right hate NPR now.

OK then, I'll up my donation this year. And for once, I spit out the words: I'm glad the Kochs made that donation to NPR. I'll rely on NPR to keep the relationship according to their ethics rules.

Cokie Roberts hasn't been a reporter for NPR in many, many, years. She will occasionally do a piece, but it will be short and only commentary. If you ever heard what she had to say about NPR, your ears would melt. She was part of the great purge - a lot of senior anchors and reporters were all fired in a reorg about 15-20 years ago.

That's when reporting started to turn conservative. It has been sliding more so ever since. They are a corporation, and they are following the money.

If you never listened to the reporting in the 70's and 80's, you don't have a clue how bland it is now. Murphy Brown was based on cokie roberts. There are zero murphy brown's today.

The fact is, there is a political agenda driving the alt-left. Look at what it objectively serves. It isn't grassroots. It could even be a ploy to sell more organic salads and priuses.

Do tell. What does she say about NPR?

She still shows up regularly on Morning Edition. NPR has stated her role with them is as a commentator. They have strict policies on their reporters not taking sides in their roles as reporters. As a commentator Cokie has more latitude. I don't hear any indication of a muzzle on her. And that's what I said she provides, commentary. You said reporter.

If you don't like the station, don't listen. If you want perfect alignment with what you believe, you can find that on u-tube. I listen to them each morning and compared to most other sources I find them to be informative. That's what I'm looking for. I don't want liberally biased news (MSNBC) and I don't listen to the many sources for right wing news and commentary unless I want to get a read on what they are saying. I don't solely rely on NPR for my news either. BBC and Financial Times are pretty good. New York Times and Washington Post are OK. When I want to get a read on what liberals are saying, I go to Huffington Post. I'm sure you or others can pick apart any one of these sources and you might be right but bring facts and not your opinion if you do. Nobody can be depended upon to be perfect, which is why different sources are important.

Facts-based reporting is hard, expensive in terms of time and research and leaves it up to the listener to make up their mind what those facts mean to them. Which means the listener has to listen. Sometimes for a whole 5 or 10 minutes while reams of facts-based information is reported. NPR is about the only place one can get access to this kind of reporting. Not saying it's perfect. Just pretty good.

If you listen to the stuff posted by the alt left on this forum, it is filled with thought guides and interpretation. Usually 2-3 minutes of what somebody actually said followed by 10 minutes of interpretation. Same goes with right wing stuff on u-tube. That's not news, it's propaganda and people left and right who regularly consume it are becoming radicalized. I'm of the opinion the same interests are pumping out that propaganda -- which is startlingly similar left and right -- with the intent to splinter and radicalize the people who had been center-left or center-right.
