i prefer UL Listed lights. that gives me a little peace of mind when i am at work... thats why i like HID lights with protective glass lens to protect if the bulb explodes while in use. mh's can explode if left on for too long without being shut off for a short time.

its just good to know that a protective lens can keep extremely hot glass from exploding in your tent...

The High Tech Garden Supply ones are great for cheap lights. The bulbs are crap but it works fine so don't pay extra till you need to.

I can get these at home depot? I need to bring the plants in from outside because of the cold so I can finish the flowering stage.

im using a 150w HPS, 2 26w CFLs, and a 20something watt flourecent tube and its veggin just fine... 400w should do really well. i only spent like 20 bucks on everything though because i got the HPS cheap and my school gives out CFLS and Fls

CFL is a bad idea for flowering. But if you must I would get 40,000 Lumen worth. That's going to be about 24 x 23watt CFL's which will cost you WAY more than just getting that light. You can get it without both bulbs for $120.

I would go with the second one. It's a digital ballast. More output, Much quieter and more energy efficient than a the HTG ballast.

I ordered a brand new 600 from HTG and I was impressed with everything from the first phone call to the light and the way it works. I always live by the golden rule...you get what you pay for..seems that is at least 99.9% accurate

You can take plants from indoors to outdoors but you aren't supposed to bring them from outdoors to indoors.

If those are your only plants it's OK as long as you sterilize the grow room afterwards so no contagions can survive.

I can grow as many as 15 under mine. I would go with the more expensive one too. Looks like a better system all around. Better reflector too.
Just placed the order, I also picked up some clone stuff also! Said it will be here in 2 days cant wait!!

Im just worried about digging up the plants from outside!!

Better quality lights/more lumens = Better quality bud/more weight! That simple! (alloting that you have the correct size room/number of plants, for the amount of light you have) My last grow, I only had florecents for veg. Had to veg for almost 3 months, to get the plants big enough to really get some weight. Then I got my hands on my current light, sunsystem HPS 1000w hortilux red, for the bloom. Bloomed for around 50-60 days, and the plants doubled in bushiness. Next grow I'm either getting a 600w mh for veg, and a 1000w hortilux blue bulb for my hps, and a new 1000w red for bloom! I vote for the nicer one, haveing both bulds will be great for you!

Good point. I had been using CFL's for veg but just switched to a 400W MH and the difference is amazing. If you need CFL's for veg because of heat or something then they are fine but an MH is a billion times better just because of he amount of light the thing puts out. Not to mention the spectrum is much better in the MH light.
