Emergency Advice Requested! (Pic's Inside)

Hello,

I'm afraid I've done something stupid that I cannot undo and so I request your advice.

In my desire to better my plants living environment, and seeing that there was room in the plants pots for more soil, I added more FFOF soil. But I am afraid this was a mistake! I think this layer of "top" soil may now be preventing my nutrients from getting into the rest of the soil.

I've taken some pictures to show you what the top soil looks like, and I also wonder if the PPM of my final nutrient solution is to high at 1010PPM.

Please advise me, Wise-ones.

Step away from the plant.

That looks like mud. Plants don't really do well in mud. Let it dry out a few days before you do anything else.

Uhhhhummm. That doesn't look like any OF I've ever seen. What may be underneath that gook looks like it could be OF....but this diarrhea stuff isn't even close. (no perlite/way to dirt/clay-like)

I'd scrape that crap out. Use your hands if need be, It may dry like a rock from the looks of it. WTF?

well maybe thats what it turned into... I got it out of the ocean forest bag and it sure looked normal before the second or third feeding.

WAY TOO MUCH WATER. Summon, plant roots require water AND oxygen. Don't scrape the soil out. The damage you will do to the root system will be even worse than that gunk in your pots. Let your pot dry out a bit. Then if the plant is still able to be lifted, I would repot it and add a large amount of expanded shale to the soil you use around that root ball. This will make at least the outer edge of the soil more porous. If it starts drying with a silt crust (probable) I would probably stab the soil repeatedly with an ice pick or something similar. This would be to break the ground in a similar manner to a broadfork.

If you need to feed the plant while waiting for the root zone to dry out, try weak foliar feedings. Preferably near dawn or dusk. You want enough light to allow the foliar spray to dry, but not enough light intensity to burn the plant. Also, water more slowly. In my garden, I give my plants each about 1/4 of the water I intend to give them, then when I finish all of the plants, I go back to the start and water until I barely see water trickling out of the bottom of the plant. As it sits, more drain off will happen.

Until some of that drys up, you don't need to water. If you have some vermiculite, you might mix it with the soupy stuff so it will dry faster. And not make adobe.

when the pot is dry, to the point the hour before the plant would wilt from needing water, thats when you water it, add 1/4 of the volume in water, only. then repeat when dry again.

it needs to drain well perlite, composted cow manure, compost work good roots need air that mud looks wet let dry then repot with well draing soil

That's not poop it's diarrhea!! Don't water it for at least 3 days!!
