fan leaves??? can you trim them off??

ok here it is, before and after
and to tell you i had considered that the leaves around the buds were the ones repsonsable for the bud growth, since they are still leaves. I know that its the leaves that provide food for the buds. I was guessing that the smaller leaves around the buds were for providing nutrients to the flowers and that fan leaves were for the stems and plants as a whole, as i didnt want it to get any bigger, i figured trimming the fan leaves would stop the overall growth, but let my buds get bigger. Anyways thats my expanation, i do still remember my old high school plant projects and plant parts lol. I guess only time will tell if im right about this or not

ouch! I mean my first time I used to trim off fans , for the same reason plus I was mad hurtin for something to smoke , if your mad dry , leaf will get you a lil high , useless if you have smoked the real think as of late, nowadays I use wire to train the leaves how I want them. and top and stop my shit , bush is good, its all about the bush as time goes on things will spread out a bit , I use low light streaching for this too. sometimes, dont take any advice from me I grow Bonsi also , and its reflected in my little smokeable mutants , low and bushy is my thing

Are you using any molasses? It's supposed to fatten up the buds. 1 to 2 tablespoons of molasses (unsulphered) to your gallon of flush water once a week.

if the plants arent going to make it ....then i would pull them up and cure them and smoke whats left. i did that 6 or 7 yrs ago and hung each plant in a paperbag from the ceiling and the thc just ran down the stems like white paint and that turned out to be some good green smoke!

how do you grow yours to be short and bushy? that is what i want to do with mine. i have my light about 1 inch from top of plant which is about 2inches tall and has 6 leaves so far but i dont want a tall plant! thanx

once I went nuts and yanked a whole gal and ate her with oil and balsamic and salt , thats one way to train a plant! but seriously just use wire

to answer the question, no im not using molasses, i researched this and it was proven that it while it doesnt harm anything, it doesnt change anything either. I'm just using miracle grow 15-30-15 every second watering (watering is every 2 days, sometimes every day if i see the soil is dry) and its somewhere around 500ml every time i do water it. so far its worked great so i'm not gonna change anything until i see the buds are starting to change colour then i'll start it on all water, for a week, and not water for 2-3 days before i cut her down. I can only hope the buds will thicken a bit in the next few weeks, there should be only 2-3 weeks left.
what do you guys think??? 2-3 weeks sounds about right??

I also like to grow small and bushy. There's just something about it. Keeps everything in a managable size and produces some dense nugs of delight

I'd say your plant looks ok. A little bare but it'll produce some nice buds in a few weeks. 2-3 should be enough to give an indication of whether or not the trimming was excessively "harmful" in any way. To me that plant is leaning towards the sativa side of the spectrum. Which would mean allowing a longer-then-normal flowering time will result in fatter, denser buds and therefore a higher overall yield

and i guess i would be full of shit if i told you that i USED to buy a lid for $12 to$15 huh? lol! the plants i speak of were chronic and hydro grown which a kid gave me and it was good for a buzz anyway. I AM HERE TO LEARN HOW TO GROW AND THATS ALL. during that time when i cured the weed..i lived on a 750 acre farm and it was very easy to get anything but i live in ny now which is very dry when it comes to good smoke. if that is your plant it dam sure looks good. try using PK which is phosphoric acid13%/potassium14% with O nitrigen its called Bio Nova PK 0-13-14 its self explainatory also miracal grow makes a liquid fertilizer to creat larger blooms, hope this helps 420doc

south florida area and NY have had the most solid and consistent pot.

PA and NC were the worst two

I don't know but I cut all the fan leaves off the main stem of my plants and it didn't seem to hurt them any I have pics up of them.

i accidently broke two large fan leaves off during my veg stage ealrier today. they are two of the biggest and were from the new growth on top, not very excited about this, especially after following this thread

heres the pic, dont even know if you can tell by it, or if anyone cares enough to comment. Not trying to jack this thread or anything, but any help appreciated
