La Lucha Continua

50 years ago today, Che Guevara was murdered by Bolivian soldiers in the presence of CIA operatives.

One CIA agent at the time commented that: "There was no person more feared by the company (CIA) than Che Guevara because he had the capacity and charisma necessary to direct the struggle against the political repression of the traditional hierarchies in power in the countries of Latin America."

His last words, moments before he was killed, were: "I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man." The man may be dead but, "la lucha continua" and Che remains a potent symbol for everyone fighting against oppression and injustice. He faced his death safe in the knowledge of the immortality of the Revolution - his ideas are alive.

I will be thinking about Che today, and about the Cuban people who today are still suffering under a genocidal blockade by the worlds biggest superpower. The US still fears Che. They still fear his ideas. And Cuba needs our solidarity now, more than ever. With a reactionary in the White House and the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, socialists of the world need to unite to defend the achievements of the Revolution.

I like this quote from Che. Advice we should all take:

"Above all, always be capable of feeling deeply any injustice committed against anyone, anywhere in the world. This is the most beautiful quality in a revolutionary."

Hasta siempre, Commandante!

I'm sure any minute now a bunch of these self described "leftists" who support Bernard the imperialist and constantly go on about how they're so much more progressive than everyone else will come and show Che a little love.

Your hero was a racist

Here's his exact words "the n****r is indolent and lazy and spends his money on frivolities..."

"Mexicans are a band of illiterate indians"

Is that what you think of black and Mexican folks?

BTW, I'm no Bernie supporter, I'm just some nobody that doesn't idolize racists, like you do, apparently.

What you fail to understand about internalized racism in western society is that people can self-crit and change. He is not like Ghandi who basically wrote love letters to Hitler. The comments Che allegedly made were from before he became a revolutionary, before he ever witnessed inequality in Florida, before he was even an adult. He came full circle. He addressed his own ignorance beautifully and fought for all.

He even went on to liberate Angola. If you have ever visited Cuba (I have) you would know that he did not live among white people. The people who carry his legacy know who he was, imperfections and all.

You want to know what I think of black and Mexican folks, I am Mexican. I have extended family all over BC, BCS and Sinaloa. Spanish was my first language. I was born in a border town. As for what I think of black people, I think that my opinion of their struggle is of no importance. I am a light skinned guy with a blue passport who has said some stupid things in the past. I have harbored internalized ignorance and bigotry. I have used the N word and thought it was ok since I was not addressing anyone. I have since come to self-crit very hard. I am not just non-racist. I am anti-racist. I think that Che Guevara is a perfect template for such a personal trajectory.

I think you just want a reason to dismiss the man, because you fear his ideas as much as the US empire does.

No, I was just curious if that's what you thought about black and Mexican people. If you say you're not a racist, I'll believe you. Also, I did not know you were of Mexican descent.

My girlfriends dad (he's Hispanic) doesn't like him and he's the person who told me that about him. The way that he talked about Che and his ideas was not very positive. I guess I'll have to read something myself about Guevera and make my own conclusions. I've never really been interested in this kind of stuff, but now you guys have my curiousty peaked about him.

Why do you criticize Sanders supporters but ally with Clinton supporters while claiming to support some kind of Guavarian revolution? You understand that's the last thing Clinton supporters would want, right? A change to the status quo..

That seems extremely contrary to the point you're trying to make

If you criticized us both the same, you would garner much more respect. But you don't.. You don't because you're friends with the Clinton supporters. If you did, maybe those same people wouldn't support you so much anymore, better not 'rock the boat'. I know how it is.

TL;DR - it's retarded to support Che while also supporting Clinton supporters, especially while simultaneously arguing against 'the American empire'..

i guess he doesn't want to be friends with the people who call other people "f***ots", "black herd like mentality", "was that a legitimate sexual assault?", "men's rights!", "more is expected of me because i am white", "black girls are primates", "penny pinching lying jew rats", "stop talking about racism", "BLM are terrorists", "you are a fake jew" and the like.

I didn't change the subject. I simply reframed it in a way that makes you uncomfortable because you know it's hypocritical to criticize Sanders supporters while supporting Clinton supporters

Can't do both and be considered authentic. I'm sure Che would have hated everything Clinton represents. You are too.

So why don't you criticize the Clinton supporters? Why do you choose to ignore them and criticize Sanders supporters, instead?

maybe it's because sanders supporters call other people "f***ots", "black herd like mentality", "was that a legitimate sexual assault?", "men's rights!", "more is expected of me because i am white", "black girls are primates", "penny pinching lying jew rats", "stop talking about racism", "BLM are terrorists", "you are a fake jew" and the like.

whereas clinton supporters do not.

You reframed it in a way that ignores sjw stuff and idpol and your racism does make me uncomfortable. The Clinton supporters here do not make me uncomfortable because they refrain from the blatant and offensive bigotry.

Also, please explain what you meant when you said that more is expected of you because you're a white guy. Was it just a weak jab at Clinton supporters? Are you aware that she is not holding any office?

Are you trying to derail this thread just because Che would have hated everything you stand for?

You support Che. Yet criticize Sanders supporters while supporting Clinton supporters

This is why you were so afraid before of revealing who you support
I don't support anyone. I criticize racist blowhards like you and your buddies.

Why are you so afraid of arguing without distorting what is argued?

OK, so to show that you don't support anyone, and that your commentary is solely objective, let's see your criticisms of Buck
I like @UncleBuck though. He's not a racist piece of shit like you who is desperate to derail my Che respect thread.

Please clarify what you meant when you said that more is expected of you because you are a white guy.
