Open Society Foundations funded a recently released study, White Working-Class Views on Belonging, Change, Identity and Immigration.

The Daily Caller article is a summary of points. Values, race, political correctness, privilege etc. are brought out. A lot is why Trump won, why Hillary didn't.

While the study’s primary stated goal is to provide a deeper understanding of the white working class, an unstated goal of the study is to help the American left and the Democratic Party recapture some meaningful chunk of the white working-class voting bloc.

“The working class has been abandoned or exiled by the Democrats,” the study flatly concludes.

I'm astounded how far and how fast the political power pendulum swung.

In my view, and this is copied from the article:

This study has demonstrated that they feel politically marginalized, culturally isolated, and economically vulnerable. As a consequence of their material reality, talking about white privilege to working class white people who are working two or three jobs to keep their families fed and a roof over their heads will be a difficult task.”

oh hey.

trump and the gop just let health insurance for children expire and took away subsidies for low income makers to buy healthcare. both policies which benefited the working class were implemented by democrats (hillary and obama).

but hey, at least killing the inheritance tax will benefit working class families with $6 million dollar estates.

Good to hear things are ok for you. Same here.

I live in the Arctic. I'm somewhat isolated from "white" culture. The culture that's present is rich and ancient.

Alaska as a whole is fairly isolated and I'm not in a metropolitan area.

What is "white" culture? Good question, hard for me to define and probably unique to everyone. I'll take a shot though.

Mom, Chevy, apple pie baseball to start. Celebrating holidays. Attending births, weddings, funerals. Being patriotic.

I was asking if your family as a youngster went to church. Like what were some of your cultural traditions.
