Why is my bud turning this colour?

This is the first time I've tried to grow any plant, it was started off inside a light box then a month or so in I put it into my greenhouse for a month. I then ended up moving it to a spot down my garden(had to hide it) it doesn't get optimal sunlight and we've had a pretty wet spell recently, do you think my plant will be unsuccessful?

it could be. i think i'd carefully inspect my plant and cut off anything that looked like that. then maybe spray the whole plant a few times with a hydrogen peroxide solution

Bud Rot. You need to shake that water off and not let it sit on your buds for too long. Also, I see some kind of fecal matter in a few areas...you might have some insect or rodent pooping on your plant causing the rot.

I highly doubt it’s russets.
Russets typically start from the bottom of the plant and work their way up. Butt ends of the flower sites will show browning before the very top of the plant does. You also don’t need a scope to see the bastards, they look like tiny brown fibers.

I agree.. but I’ve had them start at mid-plant before. They kicked my ass last year. This year I caught them early and knocked them out!!

You don't want to "shake" anything on that plant IF it is bud rot. You need to carefully remove that part of the bud down an inch or two below where the rot is and then seal off the hole in the stem from where you removed it with something like glue or pruning seal.

It could possibly be russet mites. One thing I do know is I have been growing outdoors for 15 years, have dealt with tons of botrytis (bud rot) cases and have NEVER seen it infect a bud that early on. That pre-mature.

That bud looks as if it has sit in a high humidity area and literally just marinated in water. Almost as if it has never been dry.

Do you see any white or gray fuzzy stuff in or around the bud? That usually comes before the plant material starts browning and turning to mush. If it is bud rot, like I said, CAREFULLY remove it and dispose of it in a sealed bag. Burn it...

Spray straight hydrogen peroxide all over the rest of the plant to kill off any remaining lingering spores and do not do any more pruning with the tool that you remove the infected area with until after it has been sanitized. Wash your hands before touching the plant anywhere else as well or just use nitrile, vinyl or latex gloves.

Can you get some even closer shots of that bud? As long as they are really clear photos it would sure help.

And let me know if you see any gray or white fuzzy type stuff inside or around the bud.

After you diagnose the issue for sure THEN you can take 808's advice and start shaking water and dew off the plant, AFTER the infected area is removed and the wound is sealed and sterilized.

If you ignore that procedure and those steps before shaking the hell out of an infected plant you will have an infestation of spores everywhere on and around that plant and your grow will likely become ground zero.

Seems a little suspect. Looks like brown blight setting in. From my experience, it has been lower on the bud though. If it has been wet, get it in some warmer, dryer air with air flow on it. Keep a very close and constant eye on it and get it off very quickly and cleanly if that portion keeps browning ahead of the rest of the plant. Get it away from any other plants now.
