Not at all. You will recieve preferenc for a rec license but you should be prepared to sustain losses for awhile, and be completely shut out once the big companys start with vertical integration and stacking...small companys will not be able to compete just on the princible of economies of scale alone. Hard for a class A to compete with a company that could potentially grow thousands upon thousands of plant right?. If you had pre arranged aggreement with established outlets(the ones who will no doubt become establiahed under the mmfla) then you got a better chance. To me anyway..it just seems like a giant money pit to produce whatll eventually be a relatively cheap product on the wholesale side(small peofit margins) if other states are any type of indicator for what to expect.
 
I would think, if one were so inclined to earn a degree in Medicinal Plant Science, you might stand a better chance of finding gainful employment in the field of cannabis cultivation.

with weeds growing in factories and trucking lines coming and going 24/7 with new products.
employment? try craigslist....I can trim all day for 20 bucks an hour right now, you should see how much I can hand trim in an hour.
I refuse to do it for anyone but me

I spoke with a friend who is heavily invested in the industry across multiple states and he basically said this. It was also a reason they are not trying to enter Michigan and they own multiple 50,000SF grow ops.

He said to pursue the dispensary side which is what I'm focusing on. I'm trying to stay away from established, large municipalities like Detroit and Ann Arbor. It's hard to find any info on who has applied because the application process isn't open yet, but I did find an article about some major cultivation center plans around the area I'm looking.

The next step i'm trying to do is connect with a business lawyer who has some experience in this field to try and get more info on a site and license qualifications, etc...the business plan and assets are actually the easy part for me. I just need a proper plan going forward to present.

I can't even fathom the efforts required to successfully maintain, raise, and harvest a warehouse full of plants....who would do that to themselves????

You can't, it's literally impossible. He's saying he wants to be the employer with people working for him, not being the employee working for some big company.

Sweet. One more person that wants to grow a ton. Nobody needs a ton. And very few can grow a ton of anything worth selling. Bring on the shwag.
 
wouldn't be nice if they only allowed say 200 plants per person/company. no stacking no big money just the average middle class person able to make an modest living from farming marijuana. best buds take the money schwag goes out of business.

Ahh..free market. That is what i and most in my circle were hoping for. Very similiar to how the black market operates, with just some regulations and basic quality standards. While some can argue that is what we got for med..it really is not. The best will not win in this scenario, the bottom line at the retail outlet does. Anywho..the shimmering of hope for small business lie in that small milegalize clause for small business, since we are very probably to adopt that bill as law. Still a sad day for the small time Mi farmer...yet again.
 
I think the laws can be simple..... grow should be up to code, finished product should test free off contaminents, minors should not have access without medical need. Simple. No logical reason anyone or any busines should be allowed one bit more or less than another.

Big biz still cant compete with a small growers quality and care.

You have to think from the average consumers point of view.

Obviously people on here care about quality, but think about the average person coming into a dispensary. They want the "strongest stuff" or the "cheapest stuff". Many have never smoked or have smoked very little in their life before. They don't care about quality

The waiting period is what has me thrown about opening a dispensary.

With the commercialization of the industry, Michigan is requiring everything be tracked from seed to final product. This means getting a dispensary license when they start giving them out in the spring means you won't have any product available to sell until possibly later 2018 at the earliest because of the tracking system.
