1000w how many Square feet?

Sorry guys the search feature still fails me...... I am having an electrician over next week to install a 240v line, will be getting Lumateks 1000w 240v digital HPS. How many square feet can I effectively cover with this light? I will be using my 6" cool tube. I am finally moving up from my 400w and am planning on going SOG.

Why are you going 240v? It's no better than 120 and it's a risk having and electrician out if there's anything suspicious about the location of the circuit he's putting in or your area there.

Anyway 1000w is good for 16sf but some push that to 25sf.

the 2plus technique.....36sqfeet 9plants 7 gallon pots 40%RH 70-80degrees. C02 and lollypop the plants..let em veg till 24 inches and if you do it right you will ge 4 ounces a plant.....thats the best way to run 1000watts i would say

Thanks alpha, but I have the process down, just need square footage. There is the 240v using a lil less elec issue and the issue of having bought a brand new home, damn thing only has 15 amp breakers throughout! so we will definatly be upgrading wether I go 110v or 240v.

120 vs 240 it's the same amount of electricity, one just uses higher voltage and less current and the other lower voltage and more current but the power usage is identical in all respects.

The only difference is you can cram more lights on a 240v circuit because the current is lower, but it's still the same amount of power overall and both will net the same bill.

But if you are adding more than one light, which you didn't mention, then yea I can see why you might need an electrician.

1st, I live in a brand new home. No breaker over 15 amps, and the map is 1 1/2 bedrooms per breaker. Thus, I would need to change breakers just to run a 110v 1000w plus the fans. But, since I DO plan on adding on later, I choose to go 240v. Either way I need an electrician. And, Since I know NOTHING about electricity and would prefer not to burn my house down, It just seems a little smarter to spend a few hundred dollars to be safe.
I have had 3 different electricians tell me that it saves a lil bit of electricity when appiances run @ 240v. around 5-10% is what I've been told.

after researching on the web. I retract my statment about 240v using less elect., and saving $. But it does still make sense to run 240v since we will be adding on to system @ a later time.

I see no risk in using an Electrician. I am a medical marijuana patient, I have a big dog, 2 small dogs, a 12 gauge, a reallt good security system, and my wife if a black belt. lOl

very nice! For sq. footage I know some will say 4'x4' is right for 1000Watts. I believe that's for perfect conditions. As far as how far you can stretch it I would say 4' x 5' easily & 5' x 5' very doable. I'm sure you can go larger than that even but you will certainly be sacrificing light quality for # of plants. As far as what will produce the best i can't tell ya.

rule of thump is about 50 watts per square foot, so for 1000w your lookin at about 20 sq feet. 50w psf is optimal, 45 is exceptable for indica, you need around 65 for sativa

what would you say was prime # of plants in 5x5 under 1000 watt??doable underr a 600?? im curious as well ...not tryin to jack your thread!
