Stretching issue :(

So I just started growing for the first time a week ago. I am 7 days into growing phase and my plants are stretched horribly. I did some reading I found out that the light was too far away (I had it about 1 & half feet away from the tops of the plant). I just moved the light down to about 7 inches away from the tops of the plants. I also added soil to the pots to bury the stems a bit more. I am using an aggro-lite 120W bulb. I only plan on growing small amounts just for myself.

I just bought a 75W aggro-lite which seems to have more of the blue spectrum so I hope that promotes more leaf growth.

Someone can you help me out & tell me what to do? Thanks!

The best way to determine how close you can get your lights is to put your hand under it and where it begins to be uncomfortably hot, its too close. You may be able to get the lights closer than 7 inches.

Have you tried some cheap CFl lights? they can get within an inch and not burn plants. Very cheap also.

Buddy, I know exactly what a Agro-lite is, and they are worthless for growing weed. They get very, very hot for the amount of light you get from them. Go to the Hydro store and buy a T-5 flouresent light, then go to Lowes and buy a few of the 43 watt CFLS. This set up works pretty dam good for the new growers budget. The T-5 will run you about $50. Get those shop type reflectors with the clamps on the for the CFLs. This way you can just hang a sting from the ceiling and raise and lower the light as needed.
Good luck on the grow. Sorry to tell you to trash the Agro-light, but they really do suck. You might as well just use a regular light bulb or a flood light.

alright bro i aint tryin to hate but what u have goin on is straight stupid, period. you can't use a damn incadensent light to grow trees... not enough of the right lumens and the HEAT issue. go take those lights and shine them on a bush outside from christmas or toss the fuckin things because these will kill all ur shit. now, go buy some cfls or hid!! if ur on a budget, buy cfls.. but you can get a 400w hps kit for like $110 though. (htgsupply) like i said if you're REALLY on a budget.. cough up like $20 and buy some 6500k cfl bulbs at the hardware store or ur grow shop. then put those fuckin things about an inch away from ur plants.

just an added note: get rid of ur fuckin incad. lights! :)

If you're using added dirt to hold the plant up at this point, don't be surprised if it damps off (rots at the original base) . . . which it might not if you are very careful with not over-watering until it gets going. I wouldn't water the soil that is holding it up, just the soil where it was originally or slightly above that point.

Thanks man. I learn by trial and error. Didn't really know too much about the aggro-lite. I was going to get rid of the light. The home depot has the 40W CFL's & I already have the clamp lights.

I have the journal going ... we'll see how good or bad I do ... have plenty of seeds and I don't plan on stopping ...
