We do have checks and balances. Any system if government is going to swing back and forth. This one is currently taking too much from the poor and giving it to the rich, for example. But it's our responsibility to demand and work for change, not just whine.

Of course people should not be made to pay for that which they don't use or are forced to use because alternatives / competitors are forcibly outlawed by a central authority.
