I pay about 60 dollars for Hortilux super hps 600’s. I replace at 9-10 months use.
I already own what I have and am poor so I have absolutely no need for new lighting at this time but I would like to know how much space and wattage what you are suggesting is and covers.
I can get 24 oz dense bud from a 3.5’x3.5’ space under each 600 now. Just as a meter. That’s when I mono cropped. I run a multi strain perpetual now and guage monthly production. So there are too many variables for this conversation.
24oz from 600 watts is pretty good. in fact, thats like 1.13g per watt. that's pretty incredible actually. most people are at about 0.8g or so per watt. so you must be doing something right..
my plan is to run 3QB on ~340 watts at the wall. to make the lights justifiable, id need about 1.25g per watt or about 16oz of bud. and if i run my sour jefe and ancient og strains, im betting i can get it, 4 plants... 4oz a plants, shouldnt be too hard.
i think my point earlier was that led lights have come far enough along that many growers really should start considering it as a replacement for mh/hps conventional. the ROI is starting to make more sense, no longer thinking in terms of 5-10 years, but in just a year or two... and in some cases, just under a year..
and for people new to growing... if it costs you ~$250 to make an mh/hps setup, and costs you ~$300 to make an LED setup with roughly the same yielding ratios... i think it's pretty much a no brainer..
