detection from the air?

i am convinced that there is some kind of electronic device to detect cannabis from a helicopter...i have heard different opinions ranging from thermal to photosynthesis...what is the truth?...are there any other plants that have the same signature from the air?...i have been told KUDZU,a running vine used for soil erosion problem areas show up the same as our weed...i quit growing outdoors over 15 years ago because i saw helicopters hovering over my plants about 10 minutes before i chopped them down...i just want to know if i can plant a lot of something else in area to disguise a few plants

i just got busted a couple of weeks ago by a chopper the cop said because pot reflects sunlight rather than absorbing it they light up on infra red

i remember hearing way back that weed has a very specific spectrum of light or something that allows it to be singled out with certain type detector. whether this is still true i don't know, but i wouldn't be surprised

glad to hear of the lesser charge...could have been much worse...usually lying to cops doesnt work, only makes things worse in the end most of the time

Yep those little bastards use IRDA (infared) detection for spotting cannabis from the sky.

Cannabis has a different heat signature than most native plants, but does have some relatives that put off the same spectrum of infared light.

It shows up purple on a IRDA monitor, every plant has a different signature, but nettle is the closest range to cannibis.

If you don't mind walking though a bunch of nettle to get to your plants, it'll be good for IRDA blocking, but generally if you don't have that large of an area, and space your plants out, it's hard to tell.

Right now is when they do most of the searches, it's best for them to check fields right after sundown, and then come back the next day to investigate any hits on the infared.

They're all over the place by me, and planting along south facing treelines is your best bet, that's where nettle naturally likes to grow ;)

Hope this answered all your questions. :bigjoint:

hello mr marks...thanks for another reply from you...always welcome...if i understand correctly you say to plant on a south facing treeline...north side of an opening i assume...dont know exactly what a nettle is...have heard of it...would a plant nursery have access to them or would i have to identify them locally and try to transplant some...again thanks for your reply and answers...i always welcome them

nettles are i beleive from the same family as the cannabis plant, leaves are similar and even flowers similar, except when you touch a nettle it stings you and it stings for hours afterward.

if your going to pick and pot use gloves.

have a look on google for pics.

in my defense you will notice the plants in a pot it was moved to the field so i could get a picture without identifiable landmarks
Hahaha, I kinda figured, but still your avatar suggests growing in the middle of your backyard :bigjoint:

J/k I'm in your neck of the woods ;)

You can't buy nettle, it's a common weed, it grows along treelines and waterways.

It does sting you due to it's little prickers all alon the stems, it only lasts about a half hour, it's tiny injection of folic acid, kinda a numbing sting. Shamans used to used it as a healing herb, pain killer, slapping the branches across the skin.

As far as the south face of a treeline, if you're in the Northern hemisphere, this will mean you'll get full sun throughout the year, as the sun orbits lower on the southern horizon in the fall.

Doesn't matter whats borth of it, the sun will never go that way.

;) :peace:
