im doing lst on my young plants so they can tilt up and let all the new "colas" face up to the light is side lighting nessarary or just a waste of money ?

Training a plant definitely serves a purpose and LST shouldn't cost you any money unless you have to buy some string or something and even then you can usually find things around the house to use like paperclips and nuts to weight down the tops.

LST rocks... My last grow yield was crazy due to using that method. It's cheap too and a great beginning grower, like me, strategy.
