Does a having a 1000w MH in a sense mean that a plant vegging under it for one month, will be about twice the size of a plant that is vegging for a month under a 400w MH?

not twice as big i don't think but bigger thats for sure. you'll also notice a big difference in your harvest

if this is one plant then what you would get is the same size plant....the 1000 watter penetrates deeper BUT at the cost of high electric and heat, you could do the same with the 400 watter by allowing the distance to be shorter....the difference noticeably would be after the plant is 2-foot tall...the 1000 watter will allow for taller plants.

if its one plant, stick to the 400 watter, and train the plant for the highest yield

you get more light trew the plants and in return you will get a bushyer plant. maybe a little bit bigger
