Help planning New England(legal) grow

Grew 8 last year(4 in ground w/ 50/50 Foxfarms soil & 4 in 7 gal. cloth pots) They were all clones and put outside 6/6/17- Did amazing & THEN the bud rot!! which seemed prevalent to most up here.Even used El Cheapo greenhouse for 4, but too late! Lost~ 2/3 cropEst. getting 7-8 lbs.-ended up with 1 1/2. Plan on starting inside under HID, with cloth pots- then transferring outside & putting in ground after cutting out bottom of pots. Just trying to get timing down- plan to spray down entire area with Bonide Copper fungicide pryor to prepping ground, as these spores can overwinter easily.Lots of work to do. Any thoughts on plan of action? Timing? Have inside grow going constant- so timing is tough-switch from Hydro- to pots inside & lose or delay one inside grow or crowd together on starter plants. Have 2 tents (5 by 5 & 4 by 8 and usually alternating between flower & veg.) Maine & Ma. growers let me know what you think.
Ps. BUD ROT SUCKS!! Had 6-8' plants with AWESOME nanners- only to get rain & more rain 3 ~weeks before harvest- Shook them, used leaf blower, did DRY dance(opposite of Rain Dance) prayer-nothing stops this Shit!

Shout out to Bosgrower, also-did a great deal of work on last year for split of crop & came up with amazing, cheap watering system with main res, submersible pump & drip rings. Feed & water out of 27 gal. res. Took 10 min. per session.Great friend!

Yeah Bos! Sorry, can't help with an outdoor grow, but interested in what you figure out.

What strains are you planning? Something fast finishing I assume?

Figure on starting reg. fem inside for 1-2 months veg. time- then outside after frost time-- have some big Oaks to put under to acclimate them, also thinking about some autos as test case. Haven't really decided on strains, but know Bos comes up with some winners. Haven't really researched into New England genetics, but always open to ideas

Yeah, I ran some "excess" plants outside last year. Even though they went in large, there weren't a lot of days from the time they went into flower until the nasty wx started. Not necessarily cold, but wet and chilly. I didn't get mold, but they didn't mature; they were 11-12 week plants. I'd have been golden with an 8 week strain.

I pulled them early because I needed the plant count indoors.

Like the way you put excess in quotes LOL I might have gone light in my post count, but not gonna say on post(maybe it was double the count LOL) getting older and can't always remember - general rule outside is to plant more than needed due to loss factor(i had a porcupine break off and supercrop my 7 footer & used duct tape to repair), then bugs, then rot- so double what you need & wait to NOT here coptors.

I don't know why, but we get copters here all the time. They fly low and run a pattern. Doesn't make any sense, but they are up there regularly.

lol, by excess I really did mean excess.

I ended up with too many plants when I suddenly had success cloning to fit in my tent. I hated to just throw them out so I put them in the ground. I never went over my 12 plant count, so I was legal from that perspective. If caught, it would have just been a $200/plant fine for them not being in a locked enclosure. Locked, make me laugh. My wife didn't know they were out there, and that says a lot.

I don't think I'll do it again. Too much work for too little gain. If I do, it will just be for seeds. I'll pollinate my whole neighborhood... ;)

Light dep. Short of auto's and super early strains that usually also mean lower yields and lower quality light dep is the only good option. A greenhouse is huge but when the weather turns cold and humid anything short of the climate controlled hybrid building style will still have issues with mold or otherwise be extremely inefficient to keep warm and dry enough.

Black D.O.G. works well ... you have to trim the fans after about 3rd or 4th week of flower for air flow around the buds (which I discovered too late last year) but had nice 7 footers. They have a 7-8 week flower cycle.
Also planning to try some Durban Poison this season

I can think of about a half a dozen neighbors off of the top of my head that would gladly help me haze anyone out of the neighborhood if they pollinated the block.

As far as not being worth the effort a 12 plant rec limit is crazy. Are you limited by size? You give me 12 plants and the space to grow them and I'll have around 100 pounds at the end of the season. Even with the lowest yielders I could still get close to 50.

Joe, 12 plants- 100 lbs.! Send me some of that LSD your hoarding- Typo issue- 12lbs.(1 per plant) I might buy into. Either that or come show me what you can do- Have 26 acres + thousands around- no worries. Greg was being real- I don't give 2 shits about real plant count- but here ( in New England) there is a LOSS FACTOR. If I was back in Tex. or living in green triangle( n. Cali) under Perfect conditions) I would have to call "B.S." on 12 plants & 50 lbs.. Don't mean to be an ASS, but @ 64 my bullshit meter is making too much noise-got to go eat a fresh baked cannabis cookie, some ribs, tater tots and absorb all this- Hope I didn't offend you

It's not worth the effort to me because I don't need 100 pounds, or even 12 pounds. I grow for fun. I don't sell, and even with just a 3x3 indoor tent, I get more than I can use, and it is very good.

Growing outdoors is stressful. Will the neighbors find out. Will a kid find it. Will the cops find it. Will deer eat it. Will bugs get it. Will it rot. I don't need the hassles. Even though it isn't criminal, it is still a hassle.

Growing in my little tent is peaceful. It's legit. It's secure. I have it set up so I can go days at a time and not have to be there. I can chill and enjoy the zen of it all.

That's all I meant. Not that growing outdoors isn't worth it in a broad sense. Just for me.

But to answer your question on size, no, there is no limit. The only restrictions in MA are that it can't be seen from the road or any nearby structures, and it has to be secured with a lock. It can be outdoors, but it has to meet those requirements.

I know where you're coming from. I don't just grow for personal and I have a different version of the same dream where I get ripped off at about the same time every year. You just have to adjust your expectations to the fact that you'll have losses when you grow anything outside.

I have to plant late to keep mine from getting too big and outgrowing my greenhouses. My neighbor, who's from the Emerald Triangle, always comments on how my plants remind him of what he's used to seeing in NorCal.

These pics are from a few years back before I went to light dep. The lowest yielders did 3-4 pounds each and the higher yielders did 7. This pic is just after the stretch but before pistol stacking started. Each 12'x32' greenhouse is filled with 3 plants that were each nearly 12' wide after they got heavy and the branches started spreading. I had to climb up on the roof to get a good angle.2014-09-05_15-54-10_692.jpg
