Starting up my first grow journal, carrying this over from the Indoor thread and plan to update with all of my future grows. I am growing in an outdoor potting shed (it was originally built just to grow plants, with a huge sun exposed window) that is roughly 8x5x7'. I am running a 600 watt HPS with a total grow area of 4x4. The room has humidity control and an A/C unit that has an intake and outtake exhaust. I run a 6" intake from the outside since nighttime temps are in the 40s/30s so it strikes a perfect balance right now of 75-80 with lights on. When the temps increase I can swap in the A/C unit intake if needed at a much higher power cost, which is why I run the 6" when I can. This is my first grow, I have 4 plants, 2 Girl Scout Cookies and 2 Mega Jackpots (Jack Herer x White Widow). I topped and mainlined each plant 3 times, for a total of 32 mains. The plants in the pictures are about 5 weeks old, taken a week ago. Posts and comments are welcome!

Thanks man, all 4 of these really turned out to be winners. They still have another couple weeks to go still, trichs are barely turning cloudy and the fan leaf tips are just starting to turn yellow. It should be interesting to see how big the Mega Jackpot buds will get, they are already pretty big (ones in the front on side view).

It looks like they are going to be massive when they're done fattening up.

Where did you get your seeds if you don't mind me asking? I have a small GSC plant going right now, it's not as far along as yours, but the buds are already producing tons of resin.

After doing a lot of research, I got my seeds from Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds (AMS). I know it is tough to find legit, international breeders (especially fake Dutch sites) but I got lucky with them. They put a lot of details about their strains, all of which are bred in house, and provide breeder background information which I like (more details the better, typically shows they care). They don't have all of the new strains coming out of the West Coast but they have a solid selection of old school and unique selections, like the Mega Jackpot I am growing (Jack Herer x White Widow). So far I have had 3 successful shipments from them and 10/10 seeds have germed, all fem. I almost went with some Attitude breeders but even reading some of the best breeder reviews it seems like not all of their seeds germ or come out fem for the fem seeds.

I have yet to go through with ordering seeds. I'm guessing you're in an illegal state too? I got lucky and got a seed out of some GSC from a dispensery, so that's the only known genetics I've gotten.

I am going to have to look into AMS. I really haven't yet, but it sounds (and looks) like they've done you right.

Nope, I am in Oregon so all good here. We have some good breeders here but haven't found any who sell feminized seeds and unfortunately I don't have the space/time to pop double the seeds and weed out males (even though I would love to for the hunt). Sometimes it gets hard just picking a breeder though, there are so many to choose from. I'm glad I picked them though, they even personally respond to emails regarding your grow, and if you have any issues they will help you through them.

I use attitude seeds a good bit and never have any issues. Also look into seedsman, they have a massive selection too and great deals. You get loads of good freebies and 15% off with bank transfer or bitcoin.

Nice setup dude, plants look awesome :)

Thanks man, I will be going through Attitude for my indoor grow next fall. I'm going outdoors for the summer, I have to grow 20 plants and I just end up battling temps in the shed. I want to pick up some original Grand Daddy Purple, Tuna Kush and God Bud. I saw their crypto currency deals but those are basically acting like stocks, backed by real cash buyers causing massive fluctuations that we are seeing now.

Yeah I’d stay clear of the bitcoin payment. By the time you get them the price can drop and you might have not have enough to make the order. I used to buy off Silk Road but got to dodgy in the end. I always stick with bank transfer now once their reputable seed company.

Nice, I’m starting an outdoor grow this year too with Frisian Dew and Blue Widow. I’m in Ireland so I’m not excepting much lol. What kind of temps are you hitting outside?

Nice, I at least got a little bit of Irish in me from my Dad's side, I need to take one of those DNA tests. Anyways, temps here are in the 50s during the day and 40s/30s at night. I run my lights at night so the 6" outside air intake strikes a perfect balance, if temps get any higher I can run a second 6" for intake cooling. My grow room stays between 65-75 FH, 18 - 25 C. For my outdoor grow this summer temps should be pretty mild with highs typically in the 90s, although last summer we saw quite a few 100s (climate change is real, we are experiencing it lol).

One thing I see, and so many do not think about this.. you have hair in your nugs already. Probably human hair, or pet, or some type of plastic fiber (carpet, sweater, etc..).

The thing is.. every now and then you take a hit and cough your ass off, everyone does it.. and it usually, in my experience, is hairs and fibers in the nugs.

My lungs are sensitive from being exposed to too many harsh chemicals/smoke during my military service. So I have major issues with coughing, and anything foreign being in my buds. I check them all with a bright light, and make sure I do not have any hairs or fibers on my fingers when I pack a bowl or roll a j. With a dark background, and a bright light.. it stands out and is easy to see. If I didnt check, I would be smoking all sorts of crap that was not weed. And my bet is, many smokers do that daily.. and dont even realize it.

Back in the day, they would say, "You dont get high unless you cough." And you know what I found? Hairs everywhere. Everytime someone was coughing their ass off.. Id point out hairs in their weed. Once you clean it out.. smooth smoking.

Anyway, I hope that helps a little.. the last thing you want is a great harvest, filled with stuff that will make you cough your ass off and perhaps damage your lungs/health in the process.

I have dags (miniature huskies, they shed like hell), no way I will avoid this lol. I have smoked so many dog hairs in my bowl at this point that they might be part of my DNA. I will remove them though during trimming, won't be a big deal.

Updated pics week 9, buds are pretty big at this point (6-8 inches). Trichs are still half clear on the plants so I am guessing still 1-2 weeks to go, I started flushing last watering. Got a couple recent nanners on one of the Mega Jackpots, think it is a last ditch effort by the plant. Not too worried about it though, gonna let them all fully ripen as they are past seed development at this point.
