People change through understanding. Understanding is gained through experience. Many experiences are had from external sources. To argue people can only be changed from within is exactly what I'm saying. Those learned experiences that actually change you from within are learned from other people having lived through them. What people say about you fucking up in any aspect of life is what helps to lead to improvement. The shame, the embarrassment, the struggle, perseverance.Yes, one person said he was converted. That's not very convincing.
I don't believe that a real racist or sexist or bigot can be converted by anything anybody says. My proof is that 44% of people today lean toward racist beliefs, practically all are white. We've talked and talked and talked yet still people who were racist 20 years ago are still racist.
I call your 1 person and raise you 44%.
Hardship is what leads to greatness. People become extraordinary through struggle.
