Awesome. We'll need more examples to be sure, but if we can actually tell the difference between S6s, and S5s just through appearance that'll be great.

This is what I'm ordering so far for loose leds. View attachment 4131798

Anyone have any other leds in the lm561 series they want me to take a look at?

Also, what do people think of 3500k for my board? It's going to be for vegging, and flowering.
Ive used 3000k for both veg and flower and has veg very good

Would like to update after running a small grow using what I think we're lm561b from Roget at Muefue with Vero 10s. And running a second grow with Vero 29, 10, and lm301b from digikey (so they were Legit.)

The lm561b or whatever killed it, as did the Vero 29 and lm301b. In terms of growing capabilities any of these light setups using these diodes will grow you some nice dense nugs.

My conclusion is that while Alibaba is much cheaper I couldn't get a honest answer out of the seller and when building an led light that you want to last a long time I prefer people to not skimp on materials and give me honest answers on materials used so I can design it accurately.

Lm 561Y lacks internal components for longevity ........ They where made on the cheap for a big lighting company to build bulbs with. We won't touch them...... Of course we are snobs lol...... Big announcement in a few days .... Can anyone say lm301b
and we should get excited why?

World's most efficient white light led.... The uttermost top of the top bin not available anywhere else. Produced by Samsung branded by Samsung for HLG... If you think Samsung makes quality products this should be exciting.

Not real sure how to take that comment .... Sarcasm doesn't translate the best over the interwebs if that is the case.

Yeh, it sounded snarky but I only meant what is the real world advantage of these over the 561's besides bragging rights? and price/value to the old chips.

Wow, congrats guys! I would love to read a blog post/big post about this story... like who contacted who, how is it to deal with such a big company, why are they doing it in general (more than a niche?!) and why do they partner with HLG? Thinks like that. :)

10% more output per watt. You would need 2x as many 561C to match the efficacy.
Please clarify this because using the Samsung calculator this does not prove out. At lower current there is not much difference. At .1 amps the difference is 3 lumens if all are in the best ratings. This is just under 10 lm/wt. That is only about 5% difference. That is not 2X the chips.

Even at .2 it is not twice the efficacy.

I guess I am saying show me the money because I am not seeing what you are. I could be wrong I have been before.

I think its an improvement but not anywhere close to being worth upgrading to. In real world use not worth much of a price premium either.

From what I heard they will have same price as current QB which is good but yeah looks more like a 5% efficiency gain but they will have it sphere test and will share results so we'll know more then for sure

LER/QER is different so lumens doesn't tell it all. Also, it has to do with thermals as well. LM301B has a much better system to get the heat off the die much quicker.

We will not be charging any more for them either.

Just an FYI we met with the Korean engineers from Samsung Wednesday. 561Y is missing quite a few components inside and they told us they are around S4 flux bin due to the removal of the internal reflector that directs the blue light into the phosphor. It was made to compete with 2835 LEDs which are extremely cheap... I honestly could care less if people run them on their own design. I certainly do care that they rip off the 288 and 304 100% and claim 561C S6 when in reality it's not. We built a brand around Quantum board and QB288 and QB304.........

if people want to cheap out they can get cheap product. While I understand 100%, china is known for their cheap knockoffs all around the world. Nothing will change that

That's true. It can damage the originators brand....Especially if they even put our the Originators name on it(which has happened in the past).
