Hmm interesting. i am using an Ir gun to take temps though, not an actual probe or anything. But i wonder if my friends are so hot because they're double row? But i feel like with 2" U frame like he is using would be the same as single row strips with 1"?

Do you have a fan blowing on them? I dont at the moment, but when I do the temps drop to around 40c.
Just the regular oscillating fan that's on the plants.
My heatsink build run around 34 C.

Yeah i think that's the issue. I think nfhiggs said you can just use a sharpie and make a black spot on the aluminum and it should work with the Ir gun though. Ill do that and report back. It's weird that the Ir gun seems to measure the driver perfectly (which is alum) but the heatsinks are probably off.
You can simply use a piece of black tape to cover the metal surface, it works well.

Well I got the sol strips or whatever they called in. Def not lm561c s6. One strip maybe but the others are clearly lm561b you can see the dot clearly. And all the references I've found says the dot means they are b. So dude said he would refund my money. But instead he's sending 3 extra free of charge. With the dots. So atleast I have better chance of them being samsungs diodes.

He got them from Alibaba. He sent me the emails. The supplier swears they are lm561c diodes. And that's why sold them as such. As soon as I emailed him about it he apologized and offered a refund immediately. But I choose to get some extras from him. He sent extra free of charge.

HLG's success has sent a lot of would-be's to Alibaba, hoping to put out a product on the cheap. I wish them success, but the reality is that most of them don't have the ability to ensure the quality of the components that are being provided to them. At least these strips aren't another QB288-clone, though...
