Not a stranger to politics either, just used to intelligent conversation that doesn't instantly devolve in to borderline turrets like insulting when someone is losing an argument.

The link (above) Is a review of a behavioral study into how people of different belief systems respond to humor. The results showed insight into why conservatives suck at humor. This study pretty much says Conservatives will not ever produce a humorist like Jon Stewart.

I don't know about Canada but here, a "conservative"'s style of a "joke" is more a put-down with racist overtones. Like jokes about a chocolate waffle that looks like Obama. Yeah, people laugh at jokes like that but they usually grow out of them at the age of ten. Unless, that is, they are doomed to grow up conservative.

Your and my views are probably closer alike than you think. A Conservative in Canada is more like a moderate liberal in the US. Our more correctly labeled radical right wingers are off the charts looney tunes.

So, you didn't actually read the article. If you had, you would have found that it was not one person's opinion, but that of several. You would have also found that the several people had diverse opinions about the topic and that overall it is a fairly balanced look at a new trend in comedy.

As an American who thinks no "non-left" American can be funny, you should probably look a little harder. Just don't let your friends catch you.

By the way, Bill Burr is way fuckin' funnier than John "same schtick" Stewart.

It was an opinion piece that quotes some other people.

Sorry, man. Too bad that it offends you when I a say that a designed study whose results and conclusions were peer reviewed and published in the journal of the American Psychological Association provides more depth of understanding and has more validity than an opinion piece. The conclusion of the article was Conservatives will not produce humorists like Jon Stewart. They do produce comedians who use lower order humor. They are wildly popular among rednecks.

What you posted was an opinion piece and not a study. The report I posted said that conservatives don't like humor which requires cognitive activity. The Cable Guy can be funny sometimes but it's a different form of humor than satire. His humor is based upon sexual and economic stereotypes which don't require much thought or intelligence. Not that I'm saying conservatives are less intelligent. Well yeah I am saying they are less intelligent or at the very least intellectually lazy.

I went to his site. Listened. Proved my case. Low cognitive activity required. I heard people laugh so at least somebody thought his schtick about a helicopter suicide was funny.

So, you like comedians that you don't require you to think. Like a ten year old.
