Hanging Smart Pots??

Hello farmers, This is my very first grow. I'm "attempting" Blueberry Auto. My plants are 5 weeks old. I just transplanted yesterday to smart pots from plastic pots after creating a nute lock-out from over-watering an oxygen starved root system. The roots NEVER dried out inside the plastic pots! I'm hoping I didn't stunt them too bad. Anyway, I haven't seen, read, or heard of anyone hanging their smart pots. I'm just really nervous about those lower roots not getting air flow and staying wet. Do you forsee any problems from doing this? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated! PS. the plants are in the shape they are from the LST in the previous pots...

Welcome! ..growing my first blueberry cross ever right now, Romberry (Romulan X blueberry) & now that it's a month in flower I noticed its scent last night and it's the best smelling plant I've ever had..!:hump: I'm into disgusting, smelly chemmy things and hash plants and what have you, so this is a real treat for me!

I noticed the scent last night and I am pretty sure I'm going to be sniffing that sweet stinky girl everyday till she's hanging in the closet! :mrgreen:LOL

As far as what you're attempting to hang I don't quite follow ? ..your plants look pretty good considering what you've described

i use smart pots and just put a couple of inches of gravel in the bottom of my catch pans. that keeps the plants from just sitting in the water, and the roots they grow through the bottom of the pots use the catch pans as a reservoir.
i clean the catch pans out every couple of weeks, spray some bleach water over the gravel, then rinse it out good.

I have propped mine on blocks to get air circulation on bottom. I only do this with strains that really hate moist soils. I have a Sour D strain that could care less about wet it has very aggressive roots.

I hope mine start smelling like that pretty soon!
I just mean instead of setting the smart pots directly on the floor of the grow room I have them suspended in the air using a bar that runs across the room and through the handles of the pots. I've added an updated pic.

if you don't mind the bar pushing the plants all to one side.
and the floor of your tent is dirty, put something under those pots....

know it sounds like i'm bitching, but you'll learn quick, dirty conditions make for pests and mold and mildew problems

Thanks for the quick responses! I just ordered a grow tent that I will get in a couple days. I will not be able to hang my pots in that one...If I put a couple of inches of gravel in a catch pan and the roots grow through won't I damage them when I clean the catch pan. Can you send a pic of the set up your talking about. I plan on starting 9 more plants and I'd like to do things right from the very start. Thanks for the advice on cleanliness.

I'm definitely not a clean freak, but Mr. Shrubber is right.
It's also important to remove dead plant material as soon as possible.

Regarding smart pots, advice varies.
I use 10 gallon pots for my outdoor "semi-organic" crop and have found that a large tray or saucer is essential.
This is because the center is more dense, which diverts water through the sides of the pot instead of going straight down to the bottom.
Trays catch this water where it gets soaked up slowly by the soil.
It's important to NEVER leave standing water in the trays overnight. Ideally, everything gets absorbed within an hour or two.

Get them off the floor with air circulating below. A 6'x6' frame works great with cross members every ft, and 4"x 4" fencing attached. Better for airflow and keeping the pots off of any cold surface.
Cheers :)

Here is an update. I am 68 days from sprout growing BB auto. I have read that the trichies on autos don't really turn amber so I am looking for opinions on how close to harvest everyone thinks I am. The flowers on the top of my plants look way more ready than the lower ones...Should I harvest some bud-sights before others or do the whole plant at once?

a lot of people do that, harvest the top buds and give the lowers a week or two more to harden up. done it myself to plants that have a thick canopy, take the tops, clear out the canopy a little, and let the rest cook some more

I have done that as well take tops and let the lower have 2 more weeks. Some strains get shocked by lopping the top off and take 7 days to adjust.

To me it looks like you have a couple weeks to go. but I always go by the tris
