Sedition and Treason

Is it time to start talking about bringing these megalomaniac billionaires like the Koch brothers and Robert Mercer to justice. They're funding and colluding to fund with foreign billionaires the basic overthrow of the US and want to rewrite the constitution to create their own kingdom with rules to suit them. I say put them on trial and then line them up for a public firing squad.

Damn, history repeats itself.

There was a plot by some of the richest families in America to overthrow government and install a Fascist regime back in the 1930s. They attempted to recruit decorated Marine Corps general Smedley Butler but the plan reportedly fell apart when he refused.

The corruption will continue, being as too many are stuck playing team politics. The people of the USA need to start holding politicians who accept funding from certain groups accountable.
We need to hold politicians accountable to voters rather than donors, full stop. I think it's a systemic problem and not just a few politicians.

Yup, it's past time for the people of the USA to become united / demand real change that benefits all citizens. There shouldn't be everyday joe's defending bull shit just because it may come from a party they may align with. Doing the right thing for humanity in general should come way before political parties.

No side has a monopoly on that and Americans really suck at consensus building.

A great political thinker once said that a democracy either favors the people- social democracy- or it favors the money- capitalism. It cannot be both. I do wish I could find the source, because he was absolutely right.

I haven't seen much being done for the people in quite awhile.
Crony capitalism currently has a stranglehold on American democracy, especially with Republicans and Trump in power. It's like hyperdrive since 2017.

That's why it's monumentally important to vote these people out of office, both Republicans and Democrats. The people being paid by special interests are going to represent them and ignore their constituents because they believe they need big money to fund their campaigns.

You haven't seen much done because most people don't understand or realize how this political game is played. That is the solution. Inform people on how American politics works. Get them to vote according to their actual conscience and not based on the corrupt values of a team whose only interest is consolidating political power.

"The “We are America, bitch” posture appeals to chauvinistic instincts and the white supremacy that is a deeply rooted feature of American culture and is now exacerbated by concern that whites might even become a minority. The posture can also delude working people into believing that their tough-guy protector will bring back the world they’ve lost. Such propaganda exercises cannot, of course, target those actually responsible for the plight of the victims of neoliberal globalization. On the contrary, attention has to be diverted away from corporate managers who largely shape state policy while establishing complex global supply chains to maximize profit at the expense of working people. More appropriate targets are desperate people fleeing horrors for which we are largely responsible: “foreigners” who have been “robbing us” with the connivance of “treacherous liberals” and other assorted devils that can be conjured up in periods of social breakdown.

Allies, friends, who cares? There is no need for policies that are “coherent” in any traditional sense. Consequences don’t matter as long as the primary goals are met."

Say what you want about the man, but Noam Chomsky has a way of being so much more concise and poignant than anyone else I read.

You speak in generalities yet votes are specific. The lawmakers I voted for, DeFazio, Wyden and Merkely are good progressive lawmakers. There is no reason to replace them and by doing so we would lose some good experienced people in DC.

This is why you sound like a tired old broken record.

The Democratic Party is mostly made up of progressive law makers that should be returned to office so fuck off with the "replace repubs and dems alike" nonsense.

Name names and we can talk about specifics. "people paid by special interests blah blah". What has Bernie Sanders accomplished as a Senator? How about we replace do-nothing Independents with progressive Democrats who can work with others to get things done? Maybe if Bernie has real opposition, he'd spend more time working for the people of this country instead of burnishing his image with basement dwelling boomerang millennials.
