Renewable Energy + Battery Storage = Fossil Fuels Obsolete, Even Natural Gas

Yeah, completely safe. What about the mountains of highly radioactive waste that are piling up with no end in sight.
they need sorting out. we need to build the reactors that can burn the long lived 200000 year waste waste rather than sitting on our hands scared of anything nuclear

what about the billions of tons of CO2 that we're adding to the atmosphere every year. what we're doing to the climate now is looking to effect the global climate for hundreds of thousands of years

co2 is a much bigger danger atm and it needs addressing solar cannot fix that problem anywhere near fast enough

the fact you need to go back 39 years or point to the reactor that was hit by massive earth quake and tsunami speaks more to the saftey of nuclear than its dangers...

both of those problems are very localized and didnt kill anyone

Nuclear is by far and away the safest power source we have ever had per unit of energy produced hands down

again per unit of energy produced nuclear is by far and away the safest power source we have ever had
Solar is safer......

Plutonium.

Yuck
Breeder reactors are just a class of reactor design

Some breeder reactors can be used to produce plutonium

Some can be used to destroy plutonium

If you were better informed you'd understand that. But you seem to get stuck on hysteria rather than finding out the basics

Here's the flaw in that logic; ANY failure is catastrophic, no matter how old or 'obsolete' the plant.

There is NO ROOM FOR ERROR, therefore any error will be a catastrophe.

Is running your screen saver really worth it?

Citation?

Solar is being legislated out of the running; nowhere do those who know say it can't be done and within a shorter time frame than a whole fleet of new nuclear reactors.

All breeder reactors make massive amounts of high level radioactive water that cannot be recycled.

If you were better informed you'd know that.

But you seem stuck on one solution to a problem that can be solved more effectively by other means.

Are you taking money from the electric utility lobby?

A solar roof on a house with an electric car in the garage goes a LONG way to addressing our energy problem. We must start taking bigger steps into the future and not drag our feet with coal/nuclear power plants....solar is the future
yeah it all depends on your definition of LONG....

unless your house has a surface area that is a sizable percentage of the the state of arizona then i would not agree on your definition of LONG.....

you asked me this pages ago then ran away from the thread when i posted links and numbers
https://www.rollitup.org/t/renewable-energy-battery-storage-fossil-fuels-obsolete-even-natural-gas.971570/page-9#post-14364862

to change to solar at 1% per year you would need to cover 3000km2 a year

every year for 100 years

i'll happily provide citaions for the rest once you have addressed these facts...
also you would need to replace panels after say 20 years
so 6000km2 after 20 years just to keep solar growing at 1% a year...

approximately half a bottle of wine in volume per person per year is how much waste if produced

that isnt massive amounts

tht is waste that would be safe within a couple of hundred years...

all new homes in california will have solar roofs starting 2020....that will go a long way.
I don't know where you come up with this arizona bs....all I need is my roof solar and a tesla and I will be 95% energy self supported. Maybe u should quit trying to shade arizona and just put a few solar panels on your roof, now that would be helpfull....

i've gone through it on this post with links and BoE calculation to back it up
https://www.rollitup.org/t/renewable-energy-battery-storage-fossil-fuels-obsolete-even-natural-gas.971570/page-9#post-14364862

again and again to supply the power needs of the usa you would need to cover an area more than whole state of arizona with solar thermal to do it

that is why i say some solar panels on your roof wont do anything close to going LONG way to helping
