”Feminized” or “Regular” seeds....and why?

Downs syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome. Nobody GMO'd downs syndrome into existence.
Well good on them.
Lets focus on plants shall we.
That fellow in your silly meme is likely more intelligent, than you or I can even comprehend.
It didn't require an image for you to explain this point of yours either.
My suggestion to you is, go read a book!
Then come back and explain this, within the context of the heading to this thread.
So far you seem frustrated, and maybe spiteful or vain. No idea.
Have you been believeing, that which isn't true all along?
Be civil. Maybe it was my comment about the Virgin Mary?
My appologies. I'll stick to Dolly the sheep.

that depends, sativas take longer to finish. Indica strains are a safer bet outside(in many areas). They're done before the weather gets horrible.
It does depend. My rainy season down here in NW Florida is now, so when I introduced fat, sticky Indica strains used to the long light hours of Oregon, they all bloomed in the summer when it rains every day. Lots of bud rot in July, when I'm not even used to seeing buds in July.

I'm having to cross a lot of fine genetics with some old long, lanky sativa strains that have been around here since the 80's just so I can get past the rain to start flowering.

Much the same for where i live in Australia.
I live in high altitude, west of Sydney.
The ideal season for where i live, is put out late August to early September. Harvest late March, to late April. Even early may.
But my local micro climate is far too cold for ideal.
Can't put them out ideally, until mid September. Even mid October to early November sometimes.
Preflower shows about late December to early January.
We can still have regular heavy frosts in September. Then all the root rot, and mold starts thriving around mid March.
Even considering the mold, indica always fairs better where i am. Sativas were only ever half way through bloom, before having no choice but to harvest.

All good mate.

My point is that fellow, still needs two parents. He is just as biologically human as you and I. Mother Nature created him. He's organically created. Not synthetically. The theory is flawed.

Also not every single organism has the same number of chromosomes.
Asexual cannabis plants naturally have double, the amount of chromosomes, as their sexual counterparts. This is why asexual plants can reproduce with themselves. Also its why ALL these seeds when asexually produced, are exactly the same, as the parents dna. They're born asexual as well.
The only way there can be genetic variety, is if there were a resident male or female.
This is a blessing for wild cannabis. For evolutionary reasons.
But for human needs asexual plants are pointless.
They are a necessary, and healthy occurrence outdoors. Lets not mistake this.

Peace,

Clones are the only way to have exact copies of plants. S1 seeds will have variation. Granted, it's not much as with a true male, but there are variations plant to plant.

I agree. Very, very, very slight variation. But every chromosome is exactly the same from seed to seed.
This is where doing the same thing with the offspring comes in. To breed for phenotype dominance. But every single seed will be asexual.
After all, as the saying goes. "It takes two to tango".

It's a lot like when the sperm and egg come together. Up until that second there are thousands of possibilities. But when they meet, you have what you have.

In this case they all are from the same source, but they might pull traits from the great grandfather or an aunt.

Larry,

Im glad we can agree.

Take it easy,

When making feminised seeds, the fact that 100% of the offspring are female only means that their sexual chromosome is XX for each individual. It does not mean that their DNA has been tampered with.

AK,

Please correct me if im wrong here. Because i'm a hobbyist chucker, and have only ever used or grown regular seed.
I'm by no means claiming to know it all. I'm trying to learn.

Personally,

This is where i feel its a very grey area. We have sexual female clone#1, and sexual clone#2 right. Synthetically force female#1 to express male traits. Harvest its pollen. Destroy female#1.
Put female#2 into flower. Dust with female#1's pollen. Harvest the seeds.

Wouldn't the seed from female#2 be more feminized than, if just letting female#1 seed itself?

Why isn't either genetic engineering?

Peace,

Tim.

I'm in the south
I aim for mid Oct latest and we finish in March/April and May for longer flowering strains.
If you flower till the approx same time as we do I don't understand how you want to be starting in August
We go through stretch here generally the last 2 weeks/1st week feb

Hey Tim I know you've got a lot of experience growing in Coco, this noob got some coco issues and somehow his threads dropping through the cracks, would you be able to take a look maybe give him some input, I don't know anything about Coco (I'm not a big fan of it), but this guy needs some help if you get a chance? thanks

By the way his plant is doing something I've never seen a plant do before, at first I almost couldn't believe the picture!?

ruby fruit,

Because otherwise they dont grow big enough here. My climate sucks. Cold, wet, and damp. The ground is too cold all year.
I'm talking about starting seedlings.
I'm an indoor noob. 3 years indoors so far.
I started growing my own plants. With my own compost piles, when i was 19. Seeded my first crop.
Went from there.

Peace,

Tim.

I don't care for fems, not saying they cant be ok, but Ive run over 20 different strains, and compared them to the originals, and the fems NEVER stacked up against the regulars, and most of the strains I want don't come femed anyway.

For me?? NO FEMS/YMMV,.

The seeds would have the same amount of fems using same plant or a clone. Clones are genetic copies, so it would be the same off of either. Most breeders reverse one plant and place it with several others. The reversed plant can't be smoked, so they will get it out of there after the pollen flies.

The way the silver works is to block absorption of copper or something like that. All plants are wanting to produce male flowers. It's the absorption of that mineral that keeps it female. There is no genetic engineering going on. {most refer to splicing genes as GE}

@Tim1987 arent you the same person that's telling the noobs that Autoflower plats are made by crossing regular plants with Hemp, and NOT Rudarilis?

While Hemp/Ruderalis are a different subspecies. Rudi/Hemp have the same amount of THC..

0000

ALL Drug Cultivars of Marijuana are Cannabis Indica.

Be they Narrow Leaf, or Broad Leaf. Its ALL Indica. Hemp/Sativa, is a subspecies, and is incorrectly linked to drug varieties.

But to Blake's point, the Ruderials auto flower, while hemp does not.

Sadly no one wants to know that about Sativa. It has spent too much time mislabeled to be put right now.
