I might do a good defoliation on the last week to try and fatten them up ??, I dunno how to do the link in my signature

I used to do small plant SOG...24 small clones on 3x3 tray. Tucking worked sometimes but I confess that I trimmed fan leaves occasionally too.

At homepage when you move your mouse cursor over your username...a drop down menu will appear. Second item on left is signature...click on that and you can edit signature. Just copy and paste your Grow Journal url there and save. Your journal link will then be your signature.

There is a way to make a neat little button...but I don't know how to do that.

Hey Ben man, I'm just staring my first grow ( placed 2 germinated seeds in rockwool in a nanogrow dome yesterday morning, one is fully sprouted and the other I can only see a bend of stem show so far) and will be doing two Pineapple Kush in a 2x4 tent using coco in 5 gallons fabric pots. Any tips from your experiences with the tents and coco so far?

I also have some Pineapple Chunk (Barney's Farm) but I assume you're are autos?

Hiya Barry, this is the first time I've grown in a tent and everything has gone amazingly well. Everything growing right now is just feminized so no autos and the pineapple chunk i got is also from Barney's Farm.
Tips from experience ummm what can I say.. it'll probably be things you already know but I've always made sure my temps are in a good range never over 28c during veg and currently at 25c during flower. I feed with canna and started nutes the day they sprouted which was highly suggested since coco has zero nutes. I watered with a ph of 5.5 in the early stage..5.8 during veg and currently at 6..till the last couple of weeks I'll ph at 6.2. I never flushed with just water and usually give them a lighter dose once a week in case of buildup. my water is never cold just Luke warm And give it 10-20% run off . I got 2 clip on fans for circulation just above canopy and that's pretty much it...its been such a breeze and they look very happy. Only thing I would of done different is put the scrog net in earlier..but who knows I might have some beginners luck and out yield this way...time will tell, I'm just a message away if you have any questions

So, is it possible for a seedling to pull off its own leafs? I have two stems up but only one has leafs (4 tiny ones now but the larger 2 are curled down ).

Does it have a hope or should I be germinating another?

The one with zero leave's is strange..I have had that happen when something has eaten it..i don't think I will survive if it's only a stem left if you have another 1 or 2 seeds germinate em.

The other one looks good, I've had plenty of first leaves (cotyledons) curl downwards..no biggie there.

The seedling is stretching a bit tho and needing more light..I'd also place it in a bigger medium soon.

Ben I read your little rap to barry and was curious about one thing. Why are you raising the ph as the plant matures?

@BarryBwana ...if you are losing seedlings in rockwool...I would suspect that you didn't pre-soak and ph your cubes properly. The little plants are very sensitive. You only need or want rockwool if you're going into hydro. I suppose you could use either with coco but if seedlings are dying on you...I'd make a change.

The stretching was before I put them on that rack. I was worried they'd be too close to the Sunblaster T5HO light but moved em up to within 4-6 inches because it's only 12-18 watts.

I have a very basic ph test kit and ph,d the rockwool in around 6.0 ish water and soaked it 36 hours (over kill I know).

I suspect it's because I closed up quite a bit the whole I dropped the seeds in, heard this can help strengthen the stem... is that a valid claim?

I've decided to experiment and gave the "stem" a watering with a VERY tiny smidge of 4-3-3 (GH brand) in some filtered and 6.0ish pH water in hopes it could give it what it needs to recover.

Regardless Ive started to germinate a chemdawg (pretty sure it's this strain, but it might be a descendant of) seed as backup. Don't want to risk any of my remaining 3 pineapple Kush (royal queen seeds) seeds.

I did rockwool because I eventually want to get to hydro but that's a ways down the road with my next text purchase etc. I might just place the chemdawg straight into coco based on your feedback.

Lastly, is it advisable to put the viable rockwool seedling straight into a 5 gallon fabric pot of coco or should I transition it to something in between first?

Apologies for derailing the thread and thank you for humouring me with good grace! JD kindly & very politely gave me a brief rundown on forum ettiquite and is even helping me further in private conversation.

I noticed you mention leaf tucking. Is that when you move/weave the new growth along the scrog?

Your picture on Saturday after tucking is literally a sea of green. And the canopy looks almost perfectly even, it's inspiring!

From advice by a good friend he told me to use certain ph during each stage of life for better uptake of nutrients...whether fact or fiction I did It anyway.

I'd always cover the seed lightly so it easily pops out the medium. Stem strength can come later with other technics.

You can put the rock wool into any medium you like, NP at all.

No worries at all, Barry nah I've already weaved it into the scrog , leaf tucking is just a way to get more light deeper into the canopy without any damage like taking them off.

Thanks BenG...I'm sure you've seen those nutrient absorption charts. I uploaded one that's fairly easy to read. Everybody should have one to refer to. Looking at P I can see where a slightly higher ph might improve absorption. And of course it would be during flowering that you would raise the ph per your buddies advice. Pure hydro guys that maintain a res usually get a drift as nutes are used up. So we don't mess with that. Drain-to-waste thing. My curiosity is satisfied.

I've definitely seen guys having root issues using a rockwool starter cube buried in dirt. They can stay too wet. I use peat pucks if plant is going into soil and rockwool for hydro.

I was just worried about your young one in all that coco. Worried about salt to be perfectly honest.

Ah, good old soil, is something I need to learn more about.. I know you don't want em to wet..my mate measure's the weight to his rock wool to a certain amount of grams.

Ya, sometimes they don't flush the coco enough and you get residual salt. I know seedlings are super sensitive but your clones are probably OK. I'm an old dirt guy and used to gradual up-pottings. Now it seems anything goes...

I just flush it, does the job..I also take the odd leaf off and taste it to see if the water is salty during the whole grow process aha
