Slow Maturing

Probably a bad place for this subject.

This is my second grow. I am having the problem that my plants don't mature enough during flowering. They grow tall as hell and grow amazingly, but they don't mature in the time it says it's suppose to. It almost takes double the amount (9 weeks is what it says, and I believe I am on my 12th and they still have only long long hairs, no actual bud growth)

I am doing everything correctly from what I know, I am watering enough and not too much, I have them in 2 gallon bags. And they seem to soak up water just fine. I don't give them nutrients other than Fox Farm Big Bloom. I don't like nute burning my plants.

They are inside of a GrowTent, so I'm not thinking that light from the flaps from the window is getting to them. Does anyone have any ideas? It's so frustrating waiting twice the time.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't consider myself a noob and have searched the forums and FAQ for my answer. And I don't believe any apply to me.

if light was getting in there u would probably see some deformed growth on the leaves.
what kind of temps are u workin with?

Now that I checked the specs of FF Bloom I see what atleast part of your problem is. U are running a lot of N for the amount of K in your nutes. Using an additive like Dutchmaster Potash + DutchMaster: DUTCH MASTER™ POTASH PLUS 0.7-4-11 5.28 GALLONS [719345] - Nutrients, Fertilizers & Supplements - Primary & Secondary, Essential & Minor Elements, Macro - HorticultureSource.com
This can be the answer to your problems. Use a half dose of FF Bloom nutes and a full dose of Potash+ and that will put you right where you need to be to produce bud weight. It will give you a high Phos and a High K with a low N. Keep your temps under 80F and u will be fine. GL

Slow bud growth can come from a number of things but I doubt its nutrient related. No offense lolipopcrop. I believe its in the temp or hum. It could also be if the plants are so big that they've grown up and around the lights. It could also be that you stunted them at one point or another. In order to accurately diagnose the problem, you'll have to give more info. Day and night, highs and lows, temps and hum. Pics also if you can. Don't get me wrong though It could be nutrient related too.

No offense is ever taken here. We can only express our opinions. I would have to say that heat stress is much more likely to cause the problem he talks of than nutes. Hell, for all we know it could be a Mexican Sativa and its doin its thing. To say that it's doubtfull that nutes can do this is wrong though. Especially when someone has such low K level in his nutes.
Then to go on and say it could be the humidity is crazy. High humidity will cause mold and low humidity will cause a high transpitration rate, which will lead to a high TDS in the root zone. Never will humidity on its own slow plant maturity, in fact, the only two things that are capable of slowing maturity are Nutes, and Heat. Even if they were stunted at one point it wouldn't affect the maturity rate. It may affect the amount of bud he will finish with, but will not push the finish date back.

Sorry for not posting back fast >.<. My humidity is fine, it stays at 30% all the time..and pretty much never moves from there. Temperatures can get pretty high, hitting 85..although I really doubt that's causing any problems since it gets a shit load hotter than 85 outside .

Nutrients eh? That could be it, but I'm really worried about nute burning. Big Bloom is all organic so it doesn't actually burn the plant. I put 4 Tablespoons per 1 gallon and it does fine with no signs of burn. Is there anything that would give me K that is organic or won't burn my plants.

Also, the amount of bud I get is fucking amazing. (Not trying to boast). It just takes weeks/months (ok maybe months is pushing it, 1 1/2 month) to fill out.

I'm curious, could not enough soil (not a big enough pot) be the problem? I have them in 2 and 3 gallon pots. The funny thing is the 3 gallons are shorter and fuller and the 2 gallons are taller and less full. This was not the case for my last grow though, as I had them all in 3 gallons.

its ur temps. anything above 80 is bad, the reason plants can handle higher temps outdoors is because the roots are in the ground where it is cooler. in your 2 gallon pots the soil heats up much faster.
if u think u get a good harvest now, wait til u do a complete grow with proper temps. u will get more bud faster.
as for organic K google it, im not sold by organics, they can burn a plant too. i never noticed a difference in taste or anything like that so i stick to the basics. GL

Meh, I'm not doing it for taste differences. And I've poured a half of a bottle (about the size of a Large drink) on it PLAIN and it didn't burn it ^^.

As for heat, there's nothing I can do to lower the temp. I have a intake fan on one side and a outtake on the other. The only thing I could think of doing is buying a air cooled reflector.

Lmao. Dude I'm serious. The nutes work but they just don't burn. Buy some and try it =D.

Anyways, the problems is that my light has bars that come out of it to secure the metal reflector. I'd have to get a welder to cut it off..and where the fuck would I find that .

So your saying that humidity can't stunt a plant???

I think we're both on the same page but lets say for instance that his relative humidity was over 70%. Wouldn't that raise the pressure outside the leaf causing stomata to close? That would slow growth right? Wouldn't that cause the plant to take longer to mature?

Either way he says it not his humidity because its 30% but in actuallity, thats a little to low. You want it between 40% and 60% for flowering. Although 30% isn't bad, just make sure you water a lot to keep up with the heavy transpiration.

I have a friend who has similar problems, good yield but takes longer to mature fully. Its a soil based grow with organic nutrients used also I think his problem may be the watts of his lights, he s only using one 400w i think,hps, for nearly a 5 foot plant! So light gets to lower branches in lesser amounts and i believe that it may also be just little less watts than needed for buds to maximise growth? say 600w prob be better i reckon? Did u ever figutre out the problem? I figured u have the lights to close to the plants and should be using five gallon vs. two gallon bags. Sup?
