sativa indica hybrid, looks about 50/50, sorry no pics, no camera... just roughly when amber starts showing. Also, is it all of a sudden or do some trikes go first and kinda polka dot to all amber?

Don't get all sarcastic on me. I have given all the details I can give with what I have and if that isn't enough, than ask me what you need besides pictures. I can't help it that I don't have a camera at the moment.

I have only my last grow under my belt, so an expert I aint, but this "fixation" on mostly amber trichs is highly overrated in MY personal opinion. The ideal harvest time (to me) is a personal preference, completely dependent on what kind of a high you want. Not everyone likes the same kind of high, and alot of people even like to change it up now and then. So giving a "definitive" answer is really hard.
I picked mine at 50/50 clear/cloudy (a few amber trichs were present.) I wanted an energetic up high instead of the immobilizing couchlock we've been getting. I was NOT disappointed!!! If you like to get demolished and incapacitated, wait for more amber trichs.

This was an invaluable read:

Hope this helps.

You are aking a really general question though. They'll change when they change, just be patient...

Pirate is right on the money, IMO. The time remaining depends on the strain, ferts, sun, temp, health of plant, etc. Be patient. The longer you wait, the more dense the buds will be.

Yeah, thanks.. I'm also asking because of the high. I want a relaxing one which has the potential to put me to sleep, but also want it to be fun and social. Just an all around feel good high, not couchlock.. Any suggestions on a good amber to cloudy ratio, hmm. All I know is that I have some purple strain and it has skunk style light green buds which are starting to turn purple from the tips. The underside of the plant is turning purple near the top of the plant. Not the leaves, but the spines of the leaves. Feeding mollases everyday, 43 nights, mostly all trich's milky white 98 percent. I have noticed increased bud growth and they have stared to puff up. Fbbwhatever dude said that the plant is ready when the leaves start curling and pulling upward. Mine has slowly started to do that, but keep the high I am looking for in mind. My pistils have all croaked and some are light orangish brown with others kinda dark orangish brown. Plant is extremely healthy, no pest problems, cloudy weather, around 59 to 63 over the day and 45 over night. OMG, this is exactly how mine looks at day 43....Error

If that's the case, I'd chop 'em. Right now, the trichs are mostly THC. The longer you go and the more amber the trichs, the more the THC levels will convert to cannabinols. It's your choice, but sounds to me like you are right where you want to be. If the buds are still swelling, let 'em go a bit but if they ain't getting any bigger, chop that bitch!!

Like I said, mine were 50/50 clear/cloudy, almost all the pistils were still white and viable. I MIGHT let this next crop go just a bit longer, but I'll tell you that there aint a thing wrong with what I got.
I also stopped all nutes about three weeks before I cut, letting the stored nutes get used up. I fed molasses only at every water. The plant was almost entirely yellow when I cropped.

If I listened to every little thing that people tell me about growing pot (amazing how many "experts" are out there) I'd never have even gotten in a crop. There are several out there on this site whose words are like E.F. Hutton. (When E. F. Hutton speaks, EVERYBODY listens) stick around you'll get a feel for who's who. Also, there are several sites out there. Check 'em all out. I find that when I hear something here, and I hear the same thing on all the other sites, there must be something to it. Mostly, you'll find that info that's consistent from different sources is usually accurate.
