630 W cmh dual tube, what's the best tent for this?

I've been reading a lot of grow journals lately of people using this light and there seems to be no consensus on what is the best tent for a single fixture dual bulb 630w cmh light. What's your guys take on it? I've read 4x4 but that seems like it'd be too much heat, especially for the open fixture version?

I'm running a 630cmh dual bulb, in my 4x4 tent and been having good luck so far. Can't comment on other sized tents though as I've only ever used 4x4. My reflector is quite large, and finding the light spread almost perfect for the space.

I haven't had much trouble controlling tent temps if the temperature outside is not sweltering. I don't find they put off that much heat for the wattage it draws. Good luck in whichever you choose.

There's usually a number of openings including on the top of tents. These accept up to 8" ducting. Vent from low air intake to exhaust up and away using thermodynamics.

Hi, can you tell me a little more about your set up; exhaust fan cfm? Growing medium? Number of plants? Yield amount? I am about to set up a 4x4 tent with a 630w cmh light also

Hi Delta,

Sure, NP.

My tent setup as mentioned before is a 4x4, dual bulb 630. I've mixed the bulb spectrum, so I'm running a 4k/3k however I think it would be best to stick to 4k for veg, 3k for flower. The buds directly under the 4k bulb I find aren't as dense as the ones under the 3k. It could be just the plant itself is not as strong as the one under the 3k though. I have a 6" inline fan pulling through 6" carbon scrubber ( I have the scrubber in the tent, and kept the fan itself outside to allow a little more room ) Passive intake for fresh air for now. The 6" fan, will move 460 cfm, with a variable speed controller. When it's run full tilt, it'll suck the tent in a good bit so I only run it that high during really hot days.

I'm running an organic soil in 7G fabric root pouches, which for the most part I have only fed water ( I let my water sit for 24 hrs generally to burp off the chlorine ). I've read that chemicals in tap water can harm the life in your soil, and I've also read bennies multiply too quickly for the small amount of chemicals in your tap water to really cause problems? I let mine sit anyway. Any feedings outside of what's in the soil were EWC/Kelp teas, barley, and ewc top dresses. My last grow, I used bottled nutrients and I find the organic route is much easier in comparison. The grow style, will ultimately be your choice, but I'd for sure give organics a thought.

I personally feel 4 plants vegged a month in a 4x4 tent is comfortable to control ( A scrog would help in this department, and will be adding this in for the next plants). I had 4 plants, two didn't make the cut as 2 were a pure sativa strain and a pain in the arse to grow in a tent. I currently have 4 more strains vegging, under a 400w MH , they'll go 12/12 shortly after this harvest. Yield, I will get back to you on that. I'll be chopping these ones down in a couple of days time.

When do u plan on starting up?

Awesome thank you for all the info, I should be getting all my equipment by next week. I've been out of the growing game for over 10 years and I'm trying to re-knowledge myself as much as possible. I used to grow some of the best trainwreck back in the day and now I feel like this is my 1st time. I'm growing it differently this time due to space and how hot it gets where I now live. I really appreciate all the info, keep me posted if you can on your harvest. Sounds like you got this down

Yeah man for sure. You'll get right back into the swing of things once you get started. Probably alot of newer technology since you last grew though? You going soil? Hydro? Which strains are you planning on running?

I will certainly keep you updated on yield when I harvest and get a dry weight.

These guys are about a week out ..
4 plants vegging are alien og, Cinderella xx, critical cheese and 24k gold. Cheese got started a week late.

All the best man

Alien OG is one of my favorite strains, gets me pretty stoned. I plan on doing a SoG with 16 plants in soil in 3 gallon fabric pots. I'm waiting on some seeds, I'll end up having NYC Diesel, Blue Gelato 41, Cheese, Peyote Critical, and Candy Fruit. All are heavy yeilders and high in THC
