I picked up a couple very cheap drivers to hopefully run some of these boards underdriven. Being new to LED, I wanted to make sure the drivers I have on hand were sufficient and was hoping for some help.
Meanwell hlg-320h-c700b to run 2 boards at 160w per board
Meanwell hlg-480h-c2800b to run 2 boards at 240w per board
Meanwell hlg-600h-48b to run 3 boards at 200w per board.
Thanks for the help and the time.
They are not the best fit with these boards and two boards with HLG-320H-C700B would not work because of too low voltage requirements from two boards. It would blink for that reason.
Meanwell HLG-320H-C700B has 457v but only 700mA. The boards have 43,2-49,6v so you would need 10 in series to max out this driver. You need the HLG-320H-C2800B for 2 boards in series and you would get ~130w per board. Take the HLG-320H-48B for 2 boards in parallel. Each board would get 3,35-3,5amps, thats 153-160w per board and would match much better.
HLG-480H-C2800B has 172v and 2,8A thats enough for 3 boards in series{3x 45v=~135v x 2,8A = 378w net).
HLG-480H-48B with parallel wiring is much better because you would use more of the driver output. Each board would run with ~45,6v and 3,34amps, thats 152w per board and a minimum of 456w. But all MW drivers have a bit more current so maybe 490w net and 515w at the wall.
HLG-600H-48B should be siutable with 3 boards in parallel but make sure the boards stay below 48v at 4,15amps. If its higher use HLG-600H-54B. Maximum voltage is 49,6v at 7,5A so I expect +48v especially when temps are low. With HLG-600H-54B it could be~48,5v x 3,7A, so 3x 180w per board, probably a bit more. 575w net and 600w at the wall. You need a multimeter to check that.
As you can see, it makes sense to use parallel wiring with these boards and Meanwell HLG driver. There is also the ELG series available in CV/CC. Different wattage, slightly lower efficiency but 10-20% cheaper. Its also easier to choose the correct driver because you could use all of the 48B ones from HLG-80H- up to the HLG-480H-48B. And if the voltage stays below 48v at +4amps you can even use the HLG-600 in 48B
It's also much more user friendly because 48 or 54v are not deadly but150v can be already!
