I have access to a few MMAR gardens locally, but I've been sampling their product for years and was looking for some variety.
Hoping my own plant comes through for me soon so October will be a cheap month :bigjoint:
Many folks don't want to pony up the cash for a pound or more...so they end up paying more.
It's always been that way in the weed world. Those with cash pay zero for their own. Then the really smart ones sell more and make money as well.

For whatever reason, everyone around here likes to charge a premium for their CBD strains. Ever since that girl with the seizures made news the prices went up.
I guess the supply and demand rule applies there. From my small knowledge not much pure CBD stuff is grown. I guess the LP's will fill that void unfortunately.
They are trying to incorporate CBD into eveything right now. Gonna be huge in 5 years imo.
Like all kinds of other products. They are acting like it's the new miracle cure all.

Yeah, they're breeding specifically to try and get higher CBD.
Someone should tell them you can now extract CBD from hemp plants.

hemp cbd and reg herb plant cbd are two different animals..
same shit different amounts!!
Recent studies have almost unanimously agreed that CBD without THC does very little.
It requires a combination to work properly and there are various types, strengths, etc.

I'm very interested in those that are actually doing compound extractions at the molecular level, but even they are finding great inconsistency.

Ruderalis and some industrial hemp does contain CBD, however there are other compounds in the ruderalis and industrial hemp that will give you a headache if smoked

Not sure about ingestion but you would still need to decarb it in order for your body to absorb it propery when eaten

As GB said above, two different animals

I've really honed in on the 1:1 ratio recently, as the CBD balances some of the strong effects of the THC, and really interesting you say that the THC is needed to activate the CBD. CBD has antipsychotic and anti-anxiety effects which can be brought on by THC, so yeah I think it's the future. The original plant had a 1:1 balance too, and breeders have amped up the THC for the psychoactive effects, but the CBD was left lagging. Royal Highness is pretty great, still psychoactive, but balanced effects at levels up to 15% of each. You can check it out here: https://gaiasgardenmedicinal.ca/product/royal-highness/

Pennywise is a nice 1:1 ratio (roughly 9% each) that is indica dominant. Most decent CBD strains tend to be sativa. I think it's because with the lower THC count you don't get the anxiousness/paranoia that usually goes with stivas for some people.

I think the mix of CBD/THC is a nice option as well, been working a cross of my Blue Ripper which is high THC x Harlequin which was high CBD. The keeper pheno of the cross which I'm using to work (Blue Harley) has some outstanding flavours so anyone who smokes it wants more. It's also like 60/40 sat-dom but the high is not racy or paranoid, it's a mellow/calm buzz you can smoke any time of day, no crash. My son-in-law gets paranoid and has had some bad trips on sativas (hated my Panama cut, way too racy and brought on heavy paranoia), but he loves the Blue Harley cross.

It's because CBD "takes the edge" away from the THC. CBD is anti anxiety among many other things.

I started using cbd oil orally about 3 months ago for pain and it's fucking amazing. I always thought I needed thc to combat the pain, but buddy gave me a bunch of oil and said try this. I'm going back tomorrow for more.
