First RDWC build!!!

I noticed Current Culture buckets have a small triangular lid that allows access to the roots without lifting the pots. This is almost a have to cause trust me once you have those beasts filling your 5x5 and scrog, lifting those lids will be easier said than done.
If you can, I would be sure that leak is stopped. That is another thing you dont want to mess with in RDWC when its really going.

Good point. I will now create access panels on lids to make things easier.
Gonna get return line mounted and connected to rez today using a Halo feed ring as my waterfall then install my seedling feeder pump into one of the totes and run whole thing to make sure leaks are fixed.

Bulkheads can leak too lol

I used the nice ones from reef supply and they still can have problems but none that a little glue or salt deposits cant take care of

When you're gluing, make sure you're putting it on BOTH surfaces you're meeting together. Once you've made the connection, spin the joint a good half turn to spread the glue evenly and then let it set to dry overnight.

I loved almost everything about it but im trying to be more efficient so my goals are less power usage,water, etc

I actually try NOT to glue anything that doesn't have to be. Makes it easier to break it down for cleaning......which leads me to the reasons of going away from rdwc....

Not to mention my 900gph pump,air pumps.

Its a great way to grow definitely very fast growth
But not as worry free as id like
But for peeps trying to hit big numbers with legal plant counts (say under 10) its a legit way to grow some shrubs..

But if you say fuck plant counts (personal decision)
There are faster ways to skin the same cat

Thinking my 350GPH pump might be a lil undersized. Definately creating flow but water in totes appeared to be getting stagnant so im putting an airstone in each connected to my industrial air pump which i suspended from tent structure using a light yo-yo

That will probably do pump wise. If you have 50 gallons its going to turn it over around 7 times an hour.
I would put a cheap irrigation filter before your sprayer.
"DIG" from Home Depot 9 bucks, 3/4 and comes with a 150mesh filter.

Its what we all go for but then we need chillers or bennies ...etc etc

This is why im moving away from rdwc ..

That pump is plenty for what you got going

Hoping the rez in separate cool room eliminates need for a chiller. Sytem been running for about a week now and all leaks appear to have resolved themselves. Rez temp sitting between 64 and 68°F. No plans to run bennies. Gonna go sterile since that seemed to work for previous hydro runs.

They have a nasty habit of coming back at the worst time though. Just be vigilant.
The plants will take sweet time getting roots to the water but once they do man, boom. Be patient at first. You will see.

Good trick to keep it sterile is H202 kills bacteria and provides the roots with more oxygen. Only thing that helped me when I had my bacterial problem. I put in a half cup to a cup in my ~40 gallon system.

If you plan on doing a waterfall you will need a much bigger pump. I have a 1000 gph and that wasn’t cutting it. I put in some air pumps even when I swore i wouldn’t.


The problem is not getting DO into the water; it’s about getting DO in the root ball. Which will get exponentially harder when you have an enlarging root mass.

Totally agree. My systems have between 80 & 100gallons. im running a 4500gph pump through 3/4" lines then reduced to 1/2" for the waterfalls. No airstones. The aggitation at the surface is what creates the DO.

Rez temps running from 68-74f. Introduced "Silica Blast" on 22nd at 1/4 directions to fortify and protect against temp fluctuations
